Job Description
Operate CNC lathes and mills to perform machining operations such as turning, boring, threading, and facing on various materials including metallic parts like cast iron, stainless steel, and brass, as well as non-metallic parts like plastic and Teflon. Work according to specifications, tooling instructions, and machining procedures.
ResponsibilitiesRead prints and factory work orders for specifications including dimensions, tolerances, feed rates, cutting speeds, and cutting tools.Position and secure tooling set-up and insert workpiece into position using methods such as mounting between centers or clamping to face plate.Select method of holding workpiece, which may include making arbors or jaws.Adjust controls to set cutting speed and feed rate, position tool in relation to workpiece, and run machine.Verify machined workpiece specifications to tolerances as close as .001 using measuring instruments such as micrometers and depth gauges.Procure first piece inspection approval.Maintain cleanliness and lubrication of machines and ensure a clean and orderly work area.Perform duties in accordance with company safety policies and report unsafe conditions.Essential SkillsAbility to read and interpret complex blueprints.Competence in using calipers, micrometers, indicators, and various other measuring instruments.At least 1 year of experience in the setup and operation of CNC mills and/or lathes.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience with machining, blueprint reading, lathe and mill operation.Familiarity with CNC programming and setup, especially with Haas and Fanuc systems.Experience with shipping and receiving, inspection, and press brake operations.Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.50/hr.
