What You’ll Get to Do:
Set up and operation of 2-axis CNC lathe as well as 3-axis and 5-axis CNC mill Proficient in material and tool selectionBeginning to end programming with the use of CAD Cam Software, Proficient in material and tool selectionIn-process part inspection as well as final inspectionOperation of manual lathe and millAbility to work in a dynamic, fast-paced, prototype environmentCare and maintenance of the equipmentMaintaining a clean and safe work environmentStrong attention to detail and accuracyExcellent time management skillsAbility to work independently Initiative, self-starter, adaptable, and high motivation for excellenceHigh energy, results-oriented, self-motivated/self-reliant, team player Motivated to learn and grow skill set as a prototype programmer/machinistAble to work overtime and weekends as requiredAble to work in a standing position for extended time periodsAble to lift or move a minimum of 35 -50 lbs. for up to 12 hours per day; pushing or pulling 35 -50 + lbs. occasionally throughout the workdayPerform other related work assignments, special projects, and other duties as assigned by the Manufacturing Supervisor or Shift LeadResolve unforeseen, unique issues as they arise in machining a part(s)*******NOTE: This position can be filled at either level 1 or level 2. *******
Basic Qualifications for a Machinist 1:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent. A minimum of a 2-year technical degree and/or a certificate in machine shop technology or equivalent work experienceExperience with CNC lathe and mill operationExperience running manual machines and performing set-upsExperience reading and interpreting blueprintsBasic understanding of GD&T and ASME StandardsExperience in following written set-up instructions and /or performing unique set-upsExposure to a variety of materials and machining processesMust be a U.S. citizenBasic Qualifications for a Machinist 2:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent. A minimum of a 2-year technical degree and/or a certificate in machine shop technology or equivalent work experienceCandidate must have 4 years of experience on 3 Axis CNC machines Experience running manual machines and performing set-upsExperience reading and interpreting production specifications, production diagrams, assembly drawings, and technical specifications (English)Experience reading and interpreting blueprintsHigher understanding of GD&T and ASME StandardsExperience in following written set-up instructions and /or performing unique set-upsExperience in complex measurements and advanced shop math calculations relative to tolerances, dimensions, tooling, and feeds and speedsExperience with material selection and machining processesMust be a U.S. citizenPreferred Qualifications for a Machinist 1/2:
Preferred experience in machining energetic materials Mastercam experience preferred CAD/CAM programming in a prototype environmentExperience with OSP and/or Fanuc Controller preferredExperience fabricating component parts where set-ups are non-routine, and tolerances are difficult to acquire and maintainExposure to CNC 4 and 5 Axis is a plus Work knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles and disciplinesCompensation and Pay Range
Level 1: $47,480 – $61,030
Level 2: $64,060 – $82,240

Primary Level Salary Range: $47,480.00 - $82,240.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
