**Job Title: Utility Operator** **Job Description**
Utility Operators are crucial team members responsible for learning to operate equipment associated with the extrusion or tube mill and handling aluminum products. This role is pivotal in ensuring the smooth operation of the production process while adhering to safety practices, standard operating procedures, and quality requirements.
**Responsibilities**
+ Operate, support, and move materials both on and off machines using lifting techniques and hoists.
+ Support Tube Mill operations, which may involve working shifts different from the extrusion department.
+ Ensure all quality objectives are met, assisting operators in extrusion or casting equipment.
+ Report and review any unusual conditions with lead operators or supervisors.
+ Collaborate with team members and management to meet daily production goals.
+ Work in a Union environment, adhering to terms related to shift movement and flexibility.
**Essential Skills**
+ 1-2 years of experience in manufacturing or production support.
+ Mechanical aptitude and machine operating experience.
+ Experience in production, assembly, and material handling.
+ Ability to perform quality checks and use hand tools.
+ Proficiency in operating machinery, such as press machines and forklifts.
**Additional Skills & Qualifications**
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
+ Willingness to learn forklift operation.
+ Ability to work all three shifts as Tube Mill rotates.
+ Physical capability to perform tasks, including lifting weights over 15-50 lbs and occasionally up to 100 lbs.
+ Ability to work with and around motorized equipment.

**Work Environment**
The work environment is non-climate controlled and can be loud due to machinery, though it is spacious. The summer months can be particularly hot. Tube Mill shifts are steady with potentially long days, typically 7-3, 3-11, and 11-7, with the possibility of 10-12 hour days for up to 6 days a week. The role requires handling grease, oil, and hydraulic fluids essential for machine operation. Candidates should be comfortable with these conditions. The union dictates shifts, requiring flexibility and adaptability to the work schedule.
**Job Type & Location**
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of North Chesterfield, VA.
**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $20.31 - $20.31/hr.
