Job Title: Chemical Plant Technician

Job Description

This position entails the efficient operation of a specialty chemicals plant, dealing with powdered chemicals used in the polymer making process. The role involves working at elevated heights and moving consistently between four levels of the facility, ensuring the safe, environmentally sound, and efficient operation of the plant, which includes utilities, bulk storage, and warehouse.

ResponsibilitiesOperate plant machinery and equipment safely and efficiently.Perform repetitive tasks and remain in a stationary position for extended periods.Open and close valves, monitor instrumentation panels, and report findings from gauges.Dump 10-kilo bags into containers, utilize basic math skills, and track plant data.Follow procedures, climb ladders, and operate forklifts.Perform manual duties involving lifting up to 50 lbs.Stay current on operating procedures, emergency procedures, safety, and policies.Move about the premises daily, often exposed to weather conditions.Communicate effectively with all levels of staff and management.Use forklifts, industrial scales, power tools, and hand tools.Perform maintenance and troubleshooting on equipment as needed.Essential SkillsMachine operationMechanical functionsChemical or batch mixingChemical processingForklift operationGeneral labor and heavy liftingInspection and quality checkSafety and general productionAdditional Skills & QualificationsPrevious chemical experience preferred but not required.Track record of perfect safety and reliable attendance.Experience in heavy industrial roles preferred.Why Work Here?

Work Environment

The work environment includes a clean room with air conditioning, while the rest of the plant does not have climate control. The facility has metal grading platforms and involves exposure to the elements during building transitions. This multi-leveled chemical plant requires physical fitness to climb four stories. Employees will work with both hazardous and non-hazardous chemicals, facing dust, noise, fluctuating temperatures, and flammable materials. Currently, the plant operates on 8-hour shifts rotating between 1st and 2nd shifts every two weeks, with plans to implement a 'Lego Shift' schedule involving 12-hour shifts in August.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of North Chesterfield, Virginia.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $23.00/hr.
