Job Description
Join our team as a Machine Operator at a facility dedicated to producing bags of cement mixes, including concrete, gravel, and sandbags. Your role will involve operating machines to fill these bags, setting up machines based on the product mix, and ensuring the bags are properly filled and transported via a conveyor system to a palletizing machine. This position requires handling repetitive tasks and occasionally lifting bags manually in a dusty environment, with full-face respirators provided for protection.
ResponsibilitiesRead job specifications to determine machine adjustments and material requirements.Set stops or guides to specific lengths as indicated by scale, rule, or templates.Observe machine operation to detect product defects or machine malfunctions.Review product for inconsistencies or abnormal appearance to ensure quality standards are met.Perform routine machine maintenance.Assist other operators in machine setup and other tasks to meet deadlines and product completion.Essential SkillsProficiency in machine operation and general production tasks.Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.Mathematical skills to perform basic arithmetic operations using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.Additional Skills & QualificationsCapability to stand for extended periods.Physical ability to lift up to 100 lbs.Why Work Here?

Work Environment
Work in a small, dusty shop environment with a team of five production staff. The facility includes conveyor systems, a dryer/tumbler, tall silos for material storage, bagging machines, and stacking/palletizing machines. The role offers both day and swing shifts, with a shift differential for the swing shift upon direct hire.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Portland, Oregon.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr.
