About the RoleAs a Machine Operator at Zekelman Industries, you will play a key role in operating and setting up high-speed machinery with robotic components to form or cut steel to precise dimensions and specifications. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-paced production environment, enjoys hands-on mechanical work, and takes pride in maintaining safety, quality, and efficiency standards.
Shift: 7 PM – 5:30 AM
Pay: $23.50 to $26 per hour plus weekly Production Incentive Bonus
• Operates high-speed forming and cutting equipment safely and efficiently to meet production goals.
• Sets up and calibrates equipment, ensuring optimal machine performance and accuracy.
• Inspects materials before, during, and after production to maintain quality standards.
• Records and reports production data, quality issues, and scrap material accurately.
• Maintains and cares for tooling, measuring devices, and other job-related tools.
• Diagnoses equipment and quality issues promptly to minimize downtime and scrap.
• Assists maintenance teams in equipment repairs and preventive maintenance activities.
• Participates in continuous improvement programs focused on productivity and quality.
• Performs housekeeping duties to sustain a clean and safe work environment.
• Follows all company safety rules, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
• Manufacturing or industrial experience preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret production records, logs, and work instructions.
• Proficient in basic math, including addition, subtraction, decimals, and fractions.
• Experienced using measuring devices such as tape measures, micrometers, and calipers.
• Skilled in operating forklifts, cranes, and other required production equipment.
• Detail-oriented, dependable, and capable of working independently.
• Demonstrates consistent, on-site attendance and adherence to posted schedules.
• Promotes and practices safe work habits in accordance with company and regulatory standards.
• Constant movement and use of limbs, requiring good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina.
• Ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods.
• Able to lift up to 60 lbs. and perform physical tasks such as climbing, bending, stooping, pushing, and pulling.
• Able to stand for 10–12 hours per shift.
• Comfortable working in a plant/manufacturing environment.
• Additional physical capabilities as required by the job.
