**Job Title: 1st Shift Machine Builder** **Job Description** We are seeking a 1st shift Machine Builder who will be responsible for reading and interpreting high-level machine building blueprints to assemble custom machinery. The ideal candidate must have experience with precision equipment, tools, and calibration equipment. You will also be responsible for running wire CAT tracks and assisting in wire pulling, as well as operating mills, lathes, grinders, and welding machines. Experience with hydraulic tube bending and lasering parts together would be an advantage. **Responsibilities** + Build simple and complex custom machines by following directions from Engineering and Shop Management. + Understand the storage and retrieval of work-in-process parts and inventory supplies. + Operate shop equipment such as mills, lathes, grinders, welders, and various hand tools. + Solve technical mechanical challenges with a creative mindset. + Demonstrate a passion for excellence and high-quality craftsmanship. + Understand, implement, and adhere to quality standards. + Work ambitiously to meet or beat project deadlines. + Collaborate effectively in a team environment. **Essential Skills** + 3-5+ years of custom machine building experience with tolerances of +/- .0005. + Ability to read and interpret high-level machine building blueprints and symbols. + Machining experience/knowledge, including mills, lathes, grinders, and welders. + Ability to assemble, measure, and test precision components and assemblies. + Solid understanding of mechanical and electrical drawings. + Proficiency in using hand, power, and pneumatic tools. + Ability to bend, lift, climb, and crawl. + Willingness to travel as needed, primarily for actual installs at facilities. **Additional Skills & Qualifications** + CAD skills, especially with Solidworks CAD software. + Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel. + Experience with precision measuring instruments such as dial indicators and calipers. + Understanding of hydraulics and pneumatics systems. + Hydraulic tube bending experience. **Why Work Here?** Join a workplace with a small 'Mom & Pop' shop feel that offers opportunities for growth. The role involves working Monday to Friday from 6 am to 2:30 pm/3:30 pm, averaging 40-45 hours per week. Overtime on Saturdays is rare but may be required as needed. **Job Type & Location** This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Elkhart, IN. **Pay and Benefits** The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $38.00/hr.
