Job Description
We are seeking a skilled individual to join our team as a Mechanical and Electrical Assembler. The candidate will be responsible for assembling packaging machinery and must have proficiency in using blueprints and schematics. Comfort with a variety of hand tools and the ability to convert American standard measurements to the metric system are essential.
ResponsibilitiesAssemble, erect, and test complex machines requiring precise fitting, aligning, and timing, using detailed assembly drawings, sketches, and part lists.Pipe special machines with pneumatic and hydraulic components, making necessary adjustments and tests based on schematic diagrams and sketches.Perform operations such as drilling, tapping, scraping, reaming, turning, filing, and fitting by hand, and operate all necessary equipment.Exercise considerable independent judgment to complete assembly and piping tasks, making final adjustments.Operate machine shop equipment including saws and presses, setting up and performing various operations.Work with all types of blueprints and sketches, make minor repairs on machines, and use precision tools and instruments as required.Essential Skills3 years of mechanical experience3 years of electrical experienceProficiency in troubleshooting and machine rebuildsElectrical assembly and troubleshootingElectrical wiringBlueprint readingAdditional Skills & QualificationsExperience as an automotive mechanicIndustrial assembly experienceCustom fabrication skillsKnowledge of pneumatics and hydraulicsAbility to join a union after 4 monthsWhy Work Here?

This role is situated in a manufacturing environment, where each team comprises 5 people. We produce lasers, so candidates must handle sensitive products with care and adhere to company protocols. The work environment requires caution and precision.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Portland, Connecticut.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.49 - $25.49/hr.
