Loss Prevention Specialist
Purpose Prevent loss and control shrink by performing loss prevention activities and monitoring compliance with company loss prevention policies and programs throughout the store. Deter, detect, and apprehend individuals committing thefts or other crimes against Albertsons at the store level. Assist with additional loss prevention responsibilities as directed by the Loss Prevention Manager. Ensure a safe and secure store environment for customers, associates, and vendors. Duties and Responsibilities Shrink Control Monitor the checkout area for consumer fraud, associate dishonesty, and compliance with cash‑handling and register procedures. Follow up on front‑end exception report transactions as directed by the Loss Prevention Manager. Observe customers throughout the store to identify shrink risks, safety issues, and customer service concerns. Apprehend shoplifters in accordance with state/local laws and company policy. Cooperate with police departments, courts, and public agencies under the guidance of Loss Prevention leadership and/or Corporate Counsel. Monitor the receiving area and conduct delivery audits to detect vendor fraud, associate dishonesty, and non‑compliance with receiving procedures. Assist management with loss‑prevention‑related inspections. Respond to Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS) alarms. Maintain all loss prevention and physical security equipment (CCTV, EAS systems, intrusion alarms, etc.). Conduct store inspections/audits to ensure compliance with shrink‑control and physical‑security policies. Document violations and notify store management and the Loss Prevention Manager. Conduct internal and vendor investigations as directed. Perform other duties as assigned by the Loss Prevention Manager. Safety & Food Safety Participate in the store’s Safety Committee. Report all incidents of unsafe associate behavior to store management and the Loss Prevention Manager. Report unsafe conditions and take immediate action when an imminent safety hazard exists. Report deficiencies in food safety standards and take immediate action when product freshness or quality fails to meet standards. Communication & Training Communicate with store management regarding all loss prevention issues. Train associates on loss prevention programs and policies as directed by the Loss Prevention Manager. Other Duties Develop trust, credibility, and rapport with store management and associates. Build and maintain strong working relationships with local police, law enforcement agencies, and court personnel.
