(CED), a large, nationwide wholesale electrical distribution company, is seeking a Liability Claims Coordinator to join the Loss Control Department. The Liability Claims Coordinator will report to CED’s Loss Control Manager and is primarily responsible for the oversight of claim reporting, processing, coordination, and management activities. This role will primarily oversee claims handled by our insurance carrier for Auto Liability, General Liability, Asbestos, Cyber and act as a backup for Property, Stock Throughput, Theft/Crime, Workers Compensation, and other claims as needed. This position serves as the Loss Control Department’s primary point of contact between the Field location, insurance company/adjusters, broker contacts, and any other relevant party to a claim. This position provides guidance and support to ensure timely, accurate, and efficient claim processing. Loss Control Department Summary: The Loss Control Department oversees CED’s 700+ locations throughout the United States and supports affiliated companies as needed on issues and activities related to property & casualty insurance, related claims, and safety. Reports to: Loss Control Manager Minimum Qualifications: + 5+ years of experience in liability claims management preferred + Experience handling commercial auto liability claims, including police reports, scene documentation, and driver statements. + Experience managing general liability premises claims, customer injury claims, or product liability claims. + Experience coordinating with or supporting outside counsel, especially for litigated claims. + Ability to interpret contracts, indemnification clauses, and certificates of insurance as they relate to liability exposures. + Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess comparative fault and liability exposure. + Knowledge of insurance regulations and industry best practices + Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred + Designations/Certifications/Licenses considered: Adjusters License, CPCU, ARM, AIC, AIS, AINS, CRM + Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams, and experience using Riskonnect, e-CARMA or other RMIS preferred + Excellent written and verbal communication skills ADDITIONAL COMPETENCIES: + Takes ownership for establishing reports and assessing data obtained + Able to work independently and manage multiple tasks + Strong investigative and fact‑finding skills + Ability to evaluate liability, damages, and claim exposure + Strong written communication skills for drafting summaries for leadership and legal + Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information + Ability to work calmly under pressure during severe auto accidents or high-profile customer incidents + Strong follow‑up and time management skills in a high-volume environment Preferred Qualifications: Working Conditions: This position operates in a professional office environment and may require sitting for extended periods of time. This position may require occasional travel to support depositions, legal proceedings, or other business needs. Supervisory Responsibilities: No Essential Job Functions: Responsibilities include, but may not be limited to, the following: + Establish and maintain effective relationships with Loss Control team, location managers, other departments, brokers, carriers, and all other stakeholders + Manage the oversight of claims handled by the insurance carrier(s), as well as handling in-house claims + Manage all aspects of Auto Liability, General Liability, Asbestos, and Cyber claims, including incident intake, documentation, adjuster coordination, and claim strategy development. + Coordinate with field leadership to obtain statements, photos, video, and other evidence necessary for liability evaluation. + Communicate with injured parties, third-party claimants, attorneys, and insurance adjusters as needed. + Assist with early evaluation of liability exposure (comparative negligence, contractual liability, customer allegations, etc.). + Monitor litigation activity and support Legal with discovery responses, witness coordination, and claim file organization. + Collaborate with Legal, Fleet, Safety, and Operations on liability prevention strategies and repeat‑trend mitigation. + Support cyber incident reporting, documentation, and carrier response communication when applicable. + Track law enforcement reports, subpoenas, and other legal requests tied to liability claims. + Lead and participate in the claim review process and scheduling with all stakeholders + Provide timely and efficient collection of information, documentation, and follow-up on and managing the requests and documentation between the field, the Loss Control department, brokers, insurance carriers, and other departments as necessary (legal discovery, witness information, photos, accident investigation forms, etc.…). + Works with the Field to ensure severe claims are reported timely + Ensure all claims are properly reviewed for coverage and processed in a timely manner + Ensure Carrier’s Special Account Communications are updated and followed per company requirements + Ensure all location hierarchy is maintained and up to date in the various systems in which we utilize + Monitor and evaluate claims activity to ensure accuracy and compliance with laws and regulations + Review, evaluate and negotiate insurance claims/settlements + Work with the Loss Control Manager to resolve/settle complex claim issues and disputes + Provide regular reporting on high-severity claims and trend development + Works with all other members of the Loss Control Department to ensure a comprehensive work product + Provide monthly metrics to the Loss Control Manager + Maintain clear and updated documentation of all duties, processes and procedures + Train and mentor Loss Control staff as needed + Assist in the other operational functions of the Loss Control Department, including but not limited to assisting with: customer and vendor certificates of insurance program, bond requests, maintaining the statement of values for property and inventory insurance, collection of monthly/quarterly/annual data from the Field as needed for insurance and/or OSHA reporting, processing invoices and internal journal entries, review contracts for appropriate indemnification and insurance language/limits, assisting the Loss Control Manager with policy renewals, responding to general Loss Control emails, and other projects/tasks as assigned.
