Job Title: Logistics SpecialistJob Description The Logistics Specialist will support internal customers by coordinating transportation activities, resolving logistical issues, and ensuring timely and compliant delivery of materials and equipment. This role requires strong knowledge of DOT regulations, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to build and maintain productive relationships with carriers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders. The specialist also reviews and validates freight invoices and ensures carrier agreements are leveraged to maximize savings. Responsibilities + Assist internal customers with transportation needs. + Resolve logistical issues promptly and effectively. + Build strong relationships with carriers, suppliers, and internal customers. + Maintain and apply strong knowledge of DOT rules and regulations. + Ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment in both routine and emergency situations. + Review freight invoices for accuracy. + Maintain knowledge of contractual agreements with carriers to maximize freight savings. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Accredited college degree or equivalent experience. + Minimum 3 years of relevant experience. + Prior experience in the transportation services field. + Previous experience reviewing and approving freight invoices. + Ability to work weekends, holidays, and nights. + General logistics knowledge for effective routing of materials and equipment. + Knowledge of carriers, NMFC classifications, and DOT regulations. + Familiarity with generation, transmission, and distribution equipment and materials. + Understanding of air freight, trucking, hotshot, OS/OW regulations, and international freight requirements. + Knowledge of international freight movement and parcel transport. + Knowledge of hazmat and radioactive materials transport. + Demonstrated excellence in safety. + Strong problem-solving skills and negotiation abilities. + Proactive, self-starter mindset. + Ability to prioritize tasks and complete projects on time. + Strong attention to detail and accuracy. + Excellent time-management and organizational skills. + Ability to build strong relationships across internal and external partners. + Strong oral and written communication skills. + Ability to work effectively in a team environment. + Willingness to travel as needed. Work Environment The position will be onsite in Calera, requiring five days a week of work with possible options to work four 10-hour shifts pending divisional operations. The role requires the ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Calera, AL.
