Logistics Specialist
The Logistics Specialist is responsible for ensuring efficient transportation and supply chain processes through proactive scheduling, shipment visibility, and vendor administration. This role supports operational excellence by managing freight claims & billing, resolving escalated customer service issues, and maintaining compliance across logistics activities. The position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate with internal teams and external partners. **This is a Hybrid Position (Monday & Friday Remote)** **Key Responsibilities:** + **Scheduling and Logistics Support:** Work with suppliers to schedule inbound trucks via the appropriate mode of transportation based on the routing guide. + **Shipment Visibility:** Track and trace ocean and air freight movements to maintain delivery performance. + **Transportation Coordination:** Monitor traffic inbox for logistics requests, including letters of authorization and reconsignment activities. + **Claims Management:** Process and track freight claims internally and with carriers to ensure timely resolution. + **Vendor and Account Administration:** Coordinate new vendor setup and maintain accurate address book records. + **Freight and Billing Oversight:** Review and code carrier invoices to ensure compliance and accuracy. + **Resolve Customer Service Issue Escalations:** working with customer service to create SOPs for common issues that can be implemented to improve first call resolution and reduce the number of escalations entered via our EPOST system. + **Other tasks as assigned** **Career Progressions / Promotable to:** This position has the potential for future progression within Matco Tools Supply Chain Organization and other Vontier positions. **WHO YOU ARE (Qualifications)** **Attribute/Skill/Experience:** + Bachelor’s Degree Required + Concentration in Supply Chain preferred + 1+ years of prior Logistics / Transportation Experience. + Strong communication skills - verbal, written. + Negotiating Training / Experience. + Computer skills/Experience. + Microsoft Excel. + JD Edwards or Similar ERP System. + Strong Problem-Solving Skills. **Fit Factors:** + Tenacity/Do What It Takes. + Effective Time Management and Personal Organization. + Sense of Urgency – Quick to Prioritize Multiple Tasks. + Flexibility – Able to Adapt to Changing Responsibilities. + Continuous Improvement, Doesn’t Accept the Status Quo. + Leadership & Followership. **1st 6 Months Deliverables:** + Days 1-30: + Complete Logistics Specialist immersion plan. + Assume daily work of managing assigned items and tasks. + Days 31-90: + Identify improvement opportunities and work on implementation. + Days 91-180: + Achieve KPI targets for role. + Implement improvement plans for opportunities. + Continue to look for opportunities for improvement in role. The base compensation for this position is $23-$25 per hour. Your actual base salary will be determined based upon numerous factors which may include relevant experience, skills, location (labor market data), credentials (education, certifications), and internal equity.
