A day in the life
Your morning starts by reviewing overnight shipment data and warehouse metrics dashboards at your desk. You notice a potential supply gap for a critical component and immediately pull up your analytics tools to run a detailed analysis. After identifying the root cause through data queries, you schedule a quick video call with the vendor to escalate and coordinate a resolution.

Mid-morning, you join a cross-regional strategy meeting with stakeholders from the US and APAC teams to discuss a new automation initiative. You present your business case analysis showing potential cost savings of $2M annually through improved material positioning across warehouses. The team approves moving forward, and you're tasked with setting the project requirements.

After lunch, you dive into system integration work—collaborating with IT teams via Slack and email to review User Acceptance Testing plans for a new warehouse management system enhancement. You provide detailed feedback on functional requirements based on your operational expertise.

The afternoon includes analyzing vendor performance reports, updating your supply chain metrics dashboard, and conducting a complex data analysis to identify opportunities for process improvements in the VMI inbound program. You document your findings and recommendations in a presentation for next week's leadership review.

You wrap up your day by coordinating with Implementation Consultants on a scalable solution for a recurring logistics challenge, ensuring all stakeholders are aligned on next steps. Throughout the day, you've worked entirely from your office—using data, systems, and strategic thinking to drive supply chain excellence across AWS's global operations.

About the team
ACL manages a continuously evolving portfolio of shipments through a worldwide supply chain. Our scope involves sourcing transportation, warehousing and brokerage solutions, monitoring transportation vendor performance and developing process improvement initiatives to ensure the right product lands at the right place, in the right time, and at the right cost. While initially sourced and focused on finished server and networking racks, the team has grown rapidly to expand our scope to onboard and manage new programs (loose gear, snow programs, spares, VMI inbound, Outpost, Ace) and drive efficiency in AWS’ logistics operations.
