The Logistics Engineer supports distribution center design and operational excellence by partnering with all operational functions—including inbound, outbound, storage, picking, shipping, and cross-dock—as well as IT, maintenance, quality, and vendors. This role drives solutions that enhance Safety, Quality, Productivity, and Service Levels across Arrow’s distribution centers in the Americas.
Responsibilities include designing site layouts for new and existing warehouses using AutoCAD, selecting appropriate material handling and ancillary equipment, and integrating operational workflows into facility design. The engineer leads execution of warehouse buildouts and optimization projects, ensures knowledge transfer from senior engineers, and coordinates with vendors to maintain budgets and timelines.
The role also supports process optimization, workflow and workstation design, and implementation of existing and new technologies (conveyors, AGVs, sorting and storage systems). By driving adoption of best practices, technology applications, material handling systems, facility planning, and project management procedures, this engineer ensures successful project delivery and operational performance across all warehouse functions.
Principal Accountabilities
Responsible for the design and build of equipment and managing the implementation of improvement solutions for the production floor in the areas of personnel and equipment utilization
Design and build equipment for specific business units or customers to use
Develop process, procedures and testing for business units and customers, generally for distribution and production centers.
Create, maintain, and provide documentation
Provide support for business units and customers; provide technical training support – develop, update, and maintain instructional documents and process instructions to assist in production within the unit, parts ordering, facility layout
Manage implementation of improvement solutions; identify areas to improve equipment or personnel utilization on the production floor
Monitor implemented solutions and present findings to appropriate management groups as needed
Update manufacturing instructions
Resolve manufacturing issues, address production, design, construct, and debug operations and determine efficiency; respond to floor issues as circumstances dictate or calculate labor to production floor. Lead teams, mentor individuals with respect to production and quality issues, metrics and formal problem solving
Provide support to new equipment or processes development purposes
What You'll Be Doing:
Design site layouts for new and existing warehouses using AutoCAD, incorporating operational workflows across inbound, outbound, storage, picking, and shipping.
Select and specify material handling and ancillary equipment, including reach and turret trucks, wire guidance systems, battery/charging systems, racking and shelving specifications, conveyors, AGVs, sorting systems, and dock equipment.
Drive engineering documentation control by creating, maintaining, and governing layouts, specifications, standards, procedures, and work instructions.
Lead end-to-end execution of capital projects, warehouse buildouts, and operational improvement initiatives, from analysis and design through implementation.
Partner with cross-functional teams and vendors to deliver projects on schedule and within budget.
Analyze operational performance and implement practical solutions to improve equipment utilization, workflows, and labor efficiency.
Support and optimize existing automation and material handling systems, troubleshooting issues and implementing enhancements.
What We're Looking For:
Bachelor’s degree in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent work experience.
4-year degree and 2–4 years of related experience; or an advanced degree without experience; or equivalent work experience.
Experience working in a distribution center environment.
Experience with material handling equipment and conveyance systems and working with equipment vendors and contractors.
Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Visio, MS Project, Power BI, and basic data analysis tools (VBA/SQL preferred).
Experience developing or supporting engineered labor standards and/or engineering time standards.
Safety-first mindset with the ability to design and implement safe warehouse solutions.
Work Arrangement:
Fully in-office: 5 days per week, Monday – Friday, at our Reno, NV Distribution Center.
Based on business needs, extended hours or occasional weekends may be required.
This is not a remote or hybrid role.
Up to 10% domestic and international travel may be required, based on business and project needs.

Annual Hiring Range/Hourly Rate:$69,600.00 - $110,000.00Actual compensation offer to candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level. The pay ratio between base pay and target incentive (if applicable) will be finalized at offer.
