Zekelman Industries currently has an opportunity for a Logistics Dispatcher at our Plymouth, MI location.  Reporting to the Manager of Logistics, this person will dispatch, and schedule truck loads based on customer delivery expectations for the Plymouth, MI and Birmingham, AL locations.

  

What You'll Do

Dispatch and schedule truck loads based on customer delivery expectations.Schedule delivery appointments with customers to accommodate on-time deliveries.Cultivate and maintain relationships with Zekelman Industries’ carrier base.         Coordinate with shipping department to maximize loading efficiencies.Proactive communication with sales, shipping and production.Strive to use the lowest cost carriers whenever possible                            Daily scheduling of outbound shipments from the Plymouth, MI and Birmingham, AL locations.Schedule delivery appointments at customer to accommodate on-time deliveries.Maintain relationships with Zekelman Industries carrier base; ensure all carriers abide by Zekelman Industries rules and regulations.Use a combination of the Zekelman Industries TMS+ system, email and phone to ensure all loads are covered to meet customer fill rate requirements.Research and implement ways to decrease costs whenever possible without hindering customer services.Communicate with your manager and the sales department on any customer service issue as it relates to carriers.Coordinate with warehouses\shipping department to increase loading efficiencies.Cross train with other Logistics Dispatchers within Zekelman Industries to expand knowledge base and provide coverage as necessary.Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSDegree or Diploma from an accredited post-secondary school.Previous experience in Logistics (Dispatching) is preferred.Very detail oriented.     Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Excellent organization skills and multi-tasking capabilities.Ability to work in a fast paced and highly stressful environment at times.Previous experience with a Transportation Management System is a bonus.Ability to work within a team and with minimal supervision.Ability to travel when required for training purposes.

Who You Are

Degree or diploma from an accredited post-secondary institution.

Previous logistics or dispatching experience (preferred).

Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and multitasking skills.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and occasionally high-stress environment.

Experience using a Transportation Management System (preferred).

Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

Willingness and ability to travel occasionally for training purposes.

Compensation & Benefits

Below is the expected base salary range for this position. This is a good-faith estimate, and offers will be determined based on experience, education, skill set, and interview performance.

Base Salary Range:
[$49,440—$79,310 USD]

Additional compensation may include:
