**Job Title: Locksmith** Job Description This position requires an expert Locksmith who excels beyond basic mechanical skills and tool use. The role involves creating keys from scratch to match specific locks, a process distinct from simple key duplication. The successful candidate will collaborate with the current Locksmith Manager, who plans to retire soon, with the intention of taking over the department. The university has a 50/50 split between mechanical and electric key access, requiring expertise in both traditional metal keys and locks, as well as electronic entry systems such as keypads and key fobs. Responsibilities + Create keys from scratch to match specific locks. + Collaborate with the retiring Locksmith Manager to take over the department. + Diagnose and solve issues with malfunctioning doors. + Work independently on various projects, determining whether to replace or repair locking mechanisms. + Collaborate effectively with the Director of Trades, managers, team members, staff, faculty, and students to address and resolve issues. Essential Skills + Registered in the State of Connecticut as a Locksmith with a valid certificate. + 10+ years of experience in key creation, lock installation, and lock repair. + Familiarity with managing work orders through a virtual system. + Proficiency in using hand and power tools, troubleshooting, and mechanical assembly. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Professional demeanor and strong communication skills. + Ability to work independently and collaboratively. + Computer skills for managing work orders. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of West Hartford, Connecticut. **Pay and Benefits** The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $45.00/hr.
