The principals value discretion, organisation, and consistency, and are looking for a couple who work seamlessly together and take pride in maintaining impeccable standards.

The role is based in a formal yet welcoming private household in London, supporting one child and overseeing the smooth day-to-day running of the residence. Responsibilities are shared across childcare, housekeeping, butler-style duties, and cooking, with regular periods of international travel and sole charge of the property when the principal is away.

This is a live-in, long-term position offering stability, autonomy, and trust for a couple experienced in working together within similar high-level households.

Job Specification 

Childcare Responsibilities (Shared)

Preparing breakfast for the child, supporting a calm and structured start to the day School drop-off and pick-up (school located a 7-minute walk from the residence) Providing occasional weekend childcare when required Maintaining a safe, supportive, and well-organised environment at all times

Housekeeping & Butler-Style Responsibilities

Full housekeeping of the London residence to a consistently high standard Daily cleaning, tidying, and general household upkeep Laundry, ironing, and full wardrobe care Silver polishing and careful maintenance of household items Oversight and care of a very small garden area General butler-style duties appropriate to a formal private household Occasional care of the family dog

Cooking Responsibilities

Preparing daily family-style meals using fresh, quality ingredients Planning and cooking simple, well-presented cuisine Preparing dinners for up to 10 guests during entertaining Maintaining cleanliness, organisation, and hygiene within the kitchen

Travel & Property Oversight

Accompanying the principal for approximately one month per year in New York (typically mid-October) Accompanying the principal for approximately one month per year to a large estate in the South of France (typically August), working alongside additional household staff Taking full responsibility for property oversight and security during the principal’s travel periods (approximately 5–6 times per year)

Driving Responsibilities

Both candidates to be confident and capable drivers Driving duties primarily required when based in the South of France

Candidate Specification (Requirements)

Proven experience working together as a domestic couple Previous experience within formal private households or English country houses strongly preferred Fluent English (essential) Professional, discreet, and respectful of household boundaries Confident, responsible, and capable of working autonomously Right to work in the UK Comfortable with long-term commitment, responsibility, and international travel
