Job Description

GDIT has a requirement for an experienced Linux Systems Administrator Senior to join our Scientific Modeling, Application, Visualization, Computational Science, Software, and Statistical Support (SMAVCS4) Team to support the Environmental Protection Agency.  The role will support the Center for Computational Toxicology & Exposure (CCTE), a scientific organization working to support Agency decisions by providing solutions-driven research to rapidly evaluate the potential human health and environmental risks due to exposures to environmental chemicals and ensure the integrity of the freshwater environment and its capacity to support human well-being.

We are seeking an experienced Linux Systems Administrator Senior to join our team to provide dedicated support for the advancement of CCTE code level developers in their creation of public application that service the scientific community.


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Configuring and maintaining the networked computer system, including hardware, system software, and applications.

Ensuring data is stored securely and backed up regularlyDiagnosing and resolving hardware, software, networking, and system issues when they ariseReplacing and upgrading defective or outdated components as necessaryMonitoring system performance to ensure everything runs smoothly and securelyHardware sizing, Landscape Architecture and Storage planningPlanning and scheduling RHEL server upgrade/migration and Servers downtimePlanning and scheduling Physical 2 Virtual (P2V) migrationInstalling and upgrading Atlassian Tools (Jira/Bitbucket/Confluence and Bamboo)Atlassian tools system migration and Database migration to PostgreSQL databaseCreating, updating, and organizing technical documentation and knowledge base for the team and other departments

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

Technical Training, Certification(s) or Degree requiredBA/BS in Information Systems, Information Technology, or equivalent experience

Experience:

3+ years of related experience in professional IT required, 4-6+ years strongly preferred

Required Skills:

Working closely with Functional and Technical teams for OS upgrade (RHEL 6.x,7.x to RHEL8.x, and RHEL9.x) and Windows ServerExperienced in administering server-side technology and networked computing systemsExperienced in remediation of computing systems from Nessus scanning tool. Familiarity with SQL PostgreSQL, and Mongo database operationsFamiliarity Atlassian product suite and its operationsPrevious experience with Intellj, Postman, VSCode, Node and ChemSketchFamiliarity with Docker container operationsFamiliarity with application using for event monitoring and alerting tool to maintain server uptime, log capturing and security events.Requestion DigiCert’s and installing the SSL certificates from DigiCert’s

Beneficial:

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:

Security Clearance Level: must be able to obtain EPA Public Trust Level 4US Citizenship required
