LIDAR Technician/Specialist

The Land Survey LiDAR Technician supports field and office operations by collecting, processing, and analyzing high‑accuracy LiDAR data for land development, infrastructure, transportation, and environmental projects. This role combines hands‑on field surveying with advanced geospatial technology, ensuring precise data capture and high‑quality deliverables for engineering and surveying teams.

Key ResponsibilitiesOperate terrestrial, mobile, or aerial LiDAR systems to collect high‑resolution survey data.Set up and operate GPS/GNSS equipment, total stations, and other survey instruments to support LiDAR control.Perform field reconnaissance, site verification, and ground truthing to ensure accurate data capture.Process raw LiDAR point clouds using industry software to classify, clean, and extract features.Generate digital terrain models (DTMs), topographic surfaces, contours, and 3D models from LiDAR datasets.Assist in preparing survey deliverables including maps, CAD files, and geospatial datasets.Maintain and calibrate LiDAR and survey equipment to ensure optimal performance.Collaborate with surveyors, engineers, and project managers to meet project requirements and deadlines.Follow safety protocols and maintain accurate field notes, logs, and documentation.Troubleshoot equipment, software, and data issues in both field and office environments.QualificationsExperience with LiDAR systems (terrestrial, mobile, or UAV‑based) preferred.Familiarity with GPS/GNSS surveying, total stations, and traditional survey methods.Proficiency with LiDAR processing software such as:Trimble Business CenterLeica CycloneTerraScanPix4D / DroneDeploy (if UAV‑based)Working knowledge of CAD platforms (AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation) is a plus.Strong understanding of geospatial concepts, coordinate systems, and survey control.Ability to work outdoors in varying conditions and travel to project sites as needed.Strong attention to detail, problem‑solving skills, and technical aptitude.Skills & AttributesTechnically curious and eager to work with advanced geospatial technologyStrong communication and teamwork abilitiesOrganized, reliable, and able to manage multiple tasksComfortable working independently in the fieldCommitment to accuracy, safety, and quality

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
