Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Liaison/MRB Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located fulltime in Wichita, KS.
Key responsibilities:
The Liaison/MRB Engineer will assist with the disposition of withhold supplier tags. Candidate should have experience with designing repairs for discrepant detail parts and assemblies fabricated from composite materials.
Tasks will include interfacing with multiple suppliers, dispositioning of discrepant material tags, interfacing with stakeholder groups such as Structural Analysis, Materials & Processing and Manufacturing personnel in the design center and build facilities.
Strong communication and collaboration skills are a must.
Knowledge of Manufacturing Execution System, MES, and a Northrop Grumman MRB EN signature is a plus.
Responsibilities Include:
Performs classical static strength hand analysis, Durability and Damage Tolerance (DaDT) analysis, and finite element modeling and analysis for discrepant detail parts and assemblies fabricated from metal and composite materials
Develop and document detailed structural analyses in support of aircraft repairs including but not limited to free body diagrams, internal or external loading, shear and moment diagrams, and calculation of internal stresses
Analyses will be in support of Material Review Board (MRB) and Aircraft Structural Integrity Program (ASIP)
May mentor less experienced personnel, prioritize and adjust tasks to accomplish the project result, prioritize multiple responsibilities and/or accomplish them simultaneously, comprehend and analyze complex problems and develop solutions
This requisition may be filled as either a Associate Engineer (level 1) or Liaison/MRB Engineer (level 2) based on the qualifications below.
Basic Qualifications:
Associate Engineer: Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 0 years’ experience to include a background in aerospace structural analysis
Liaison/MRB Engineer: Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline with a minimum of 2 years of related professional/military experience to include a background in composite airframe structures or a master's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline with 0 years of experience.
Hands on experience in a composites manufacturing facility.
Experience with military specs and standards.
Experience with repair processes for composite materials used in aerospace structures.
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance and special program access (PAR) prior to the commencement of employment
Preferred Qualifications:Bachelors of Science or Masters of Science in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering
Current NGAS MRB buyoff authority. "EN".
Experience interfacing with a military customer
Current, in-scope Secret clearance (or higher)
Primary Level Salary Range: $65,800.00 - $98,800.00Secondary Level Salary Range: $79,300.00 - $118,900.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
