LDM is an internal organization within the firm’s Litigation Department that supports and facilitates the legal discovery process, including the identification, preservation, collection, review, and production of information relevant to litigation matters, regulatory inquiries, and internal investigations. The Associate will be part of the team responsible for the end-to-end Legal Hold process including the drafting, issuance, and monitoring of legal hold notices to employees across the Firm, providing guidance about the legal obligations surrounding those holds, and facilitating their ultimate release. As a Legal Holds and Discovery Strategy Specialist, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with innovative eDiscovery professionals across a wide variety of disciplines in a dynamic environment. You will perform custodial and/or data source research and identification, along with the preservation and disposition of data within pre-defined Service Level Agreements and turnaround times. In addition, you will facilitate responses to attorney questions and requests regarding litigation, HR, and regulatory matters. You will also have the opportunity to contribute to broader goals and initiatives across the eDiscovery spectrum in an effort to continuously develop, update and improve our eDiscovery program.
Key Responsibilities
Action, coordinate, and track inquiries and requests in connection with the identification, preservation, and collection of electronically stored information (ESI) Serve as an internal subject matter expert on how JPMC conducts discovery, with a particular focus on legal holds, information governance, custodian interview questionnaires, data disposition, and matter closures Liaise between various stakeholders including internal litigators, outside counsel, technology partners, and the lines of business, to advise on discovery obligations, manage expectations for deliverables, and ensure compliance with firm policies and implementation of best practices related to discovery Lead and support internal initiatives related to audit readiness and legal technology implementation; and responsible for continually identifying opportunities to improve LDM processes, while consulting on the implementation and documentation of those improvements Create matter-related and programmatic reports, and deliver updates to management on an ad-hoc and periodic basis Effectively and clearly communicate facts, accomplishments, and key challenges and risks related to the efforts of the team and collaborate effectively at all levels of the organizationQualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent, Preferable 2+ years of experience in eDiscovery or litigation support at a consulting firm, discovery vendor, or law firm; ACEDS or PMP certificate a plus Intermediate PC and Microsoft skills in a Windows environment. SQL, Oracle, VBA experience is a plus, as is experience with data visualization using tools like Tableau Strong organizational skills and ability to track multiple workstreams Self-motivated, organized, team oriented person, with the ability to resolve multiple confidential and/or sensitive, time-critical, and competing priorities and projects Must be comfortable working independently and with minimal supervision Effective communicator with a focus on client satisfaction, quality, process, and technology
