As a Legal Entity Control Associate in our Finance team, you will spend each day defining, refining, and delivering on key objectives for our firm. You will be responsible for partnering across multiple lines of business and internal stakeholders to provide financial oversight, strategic analysis, and support for legal entity financials and regulatory reporting.
Our Legal Entity Control team ensures a strong control environment across all businesses, products, and operational areas impacting legal entity financials. You will collaborate with line of business finance teams, operations, and the Legal Entity Controller community to drive the legal entity agenda, while gaining end-to-end exposure to legal entity controllership.
Job responsibilities
Manage legal entity accounting and control on a monthly basis, including month-end close, parent/child accounting, equity pick up, review of inter-entity breaks, and monitoring unnatural general ledger balances.Apply project management skills to support new business initiatives for WM Controllers.Conduct month-end analytical reviews of legal entities to ensure completeness and accuracy of financial statements; prepare various reports, including contributions to the Monthly Controller’s Book, legal entity and line of business financial commentary, and regulatory reporting requirements.Investigate, analyze, and resolve issues, and respond to ad-hoc queries.Assist in Booking Model reviews and monitor ongoing compliance with Legal Entity Control Standards.Control intercompany activity, including providing variance commentary.Monitor the general ledger, including consolidation and netting activities.Participate in firmwide legal entity reporting projects, infrastructure and process improvement efforts, and other Controller initiatives as needed.Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related business field5+ years finance/accounting – related experienceStrong accounting and analytical acumen, with ability to understand, produce and explain income statement and balance sheet content and variancesSuperior attention to detailOutstanding written and verbal communication skills, including an ability to prepare executive level presentationsAbility to work effectively with others, as well as act as an effective liaison with all business partners within the lines of business or legal entity chainsStrong initiative and work ethicAbility to multi-task and work well under pressure, with an ability to be flexible in a dynamic and challenging environmentAdvanced Excel and PowerPoint skills requiredPreferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
