Legal Counsel – Superannuation
Location: Sydney (Hybrid role – minimum 3 days per week in office)
We are seeking a talented individual to join our Superannuation Legal team at Marsh, supporting the Mercer Superannuation Funds. This is a great opportunity to expand your skills and progress within a global company.
Looking for an exciting role which will provide a sense of ownership? This role would suit someone who demonstrates a willingness to take on increased responsibilities, can act independently, has excellent planning and organisational skills for project development and implementation, and is efficient at completing tasks timely to support internal business demands.
The role sits within the broader Marsh Superannuation legal team and is primarily focused on supporting the superannuation business. It would suit someone with at least 3 years’ experience in superannuation or wealth management, who wants to further their legal career in this area.
We will count on you to:
Provide advice to Mercer’s business on all aspects of its superannuation business including trustee governance and licensing, regulatory issues, breach reporting, member complaints, product changes, and trustee service provider arrangements.Review Product Disclosure Statements (PDSs) and other disclosure material and advise on issues that arise.Liaise with other lawyers in the Mercer superannuation team and broader Marsh Legal, Compliance, and Public Affairs teams.Instruct external counsel for obtaining legal advice, including managing legal spend.Assist with the development and scheduling of internal training.Conduct legal research.Review board and committee papers and provide legal signoff as required.Undertake other tasks as directed by senior lawyers in the legal team.What you need to have:
A law degree and qualified as a Solicitor (at least 3 years PQE).Experience working within a Superannuation fund or related environment.The ability to be proactive and highly organised.The ability to thrive in a high-pressure environment.The ability to work autonomously and accurately to meet multiple deadlines.Strong attention to detail with a high level of writing and communication skills.The ability to draft and edit concisely.Strong Microsoft Office skills.What makes you stand out:
