The PositionThe Opportunity:
As the Legal & Compliance Manager at Roche Latvia Pharma Division, you will play a critical role in ensuring that our operations and business interactions comply with all relevant requirements and internal Roche policies, and will also support the organization in day-to-day legal matters.
As the Legal & Compliance Manager at Roche Latvia Pharma Division, you will be:
Strategic Partner: Collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the fulfillment of all Roche divisional and local requirements.
Role Model: Serve as a role model in ethical behavior and decision-making, promoting a culture of integrity and compliance across the organization.
Strategic Influence: Drive compliance integration into business processes and decision-making.
Stakeholder Collaboration: Work proactively with various departments to help them achieve their business goals in compliance with Roche policies and guidelines.
Culture Building: Lead the development and nurturing of a robust compliance culture within the Roche Latvia Pharma organization to ensure business processes align with legal requirements and internal policies.
Legal support: support Roche Latvia Pharma organization and Director Legal & Compliance Pharma Baltics Cluster with day to day legal matters, which includes legal advice, drafting and reviewing contracts, etc.
Compliance support to Roche Services & Solutions (RSS) Riga: you will extend, scale and apply compliance work done for Pharma also to the Roche Services & Solutions site in Riga (e.g. joint SOPs & training). Serve as Compliance Officer for RSS Riga and report to the Head of RSS Riga in this capacity.
Key Compliance Responsibilities
Under the oversight of and in collaboration with the Director Legal & Compliance Pharma Baltics Cluster, perform the following tasks in the Compliance Manager capacity:
Guidance and Support: With a solution-oriented mindset, provide clear and actionable guidance to other departments to enable them to achieve their business goals in a compliant manner and in accordance with policies and guidelines. Escalate more complex inquiries to, and work with, the Director Legal & Compliance Pharma Baltics Cluster to address these.
Global Standardization: Ensure adherence to Roche global standards such as the Code of Conduct and all Pharma Compliance-related Directives and guidelines, relevant Latvian legislation and local industry association Code of Ethics and any other relevant global and local regulations.
Process Enhancement: Identify opportunities for efficiency in the compliance function and implement improvement initiatives. Develop compliance SOPs or policies and provide targeted training to employees. Strive for simplification & user-friendliness while maintaining a robust compliance system that adequately protects the organization’s license to operate and reputation.
Strategic Risk Assessment: Identify, assess, and manage compliance risks associated with business operations, products, and services using data-driven approaches.
Monitoring Activities: Conduct periodic monitoring activities, including spot checks and approvals, to confirm compliance with company policies.
Comprehensive Training Programs: Design and deliver training on directives, guidelines, standards, and industry regulations. Customize training for different organizational levels. Conduct compliance onboarding training for new employees, tailored to their function and role.
Promoting Compliance Culture: Promote ethical behavior and decision-making. Continuously strive to increase the organization’s compliance maturity & employees’ ability to navigate the compliance processes and requirements.
Cross-Divisional and pan-Baltic Collaboration: efficient collaboration with Diagnostics division compliance function in matters that relate to the whole Latvian legal entity. Collaborate, and where agreed, take lead on pan-Baltic compliance projects.
Encouraging Speak-Up: Ensure employees are informed about and encouraged to use speak-up channels, including the Roche Group Speak-Up Line.
Incident Reporting: Manage the Business Ethics Incident Reporting (BEIR) system and document material business ethics incidents.
Audit Coordination: Manage internal and external compliance audits, ensure timely responses to findings, and implement corrective actions.
Documentation Excellence: Maintain detailed records relating to the compliance management system, as well as any audit activities and resolutions.
Who you are:
Master's degree in Law.
Minimum of 5 years of experience working in a law firm or another position requiring a legal background in the life sciences area (preferably), or another highly regulated sector
Strong knowledge of law and regulations around pharma / life sciences area, deeper knowledge of other relevant legal areas a plus
Fluent in Latvian, excellent command of written and spoken English
Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, with an ability to align, communicate, and influence compliance initiatives across the organization while fostering collaboration and coaching for compliance maturity.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, enabling the identification, assessment, and mitigation of legal and compliance risks, with a focus on reducing complexity and administrative burdens.
High ethical standards, discretion, and professionalism, with a commitment to confidentiality, sound judgment, and promoting a culture of integrity.
Proficient project management skills, adaptable to evolving regulations, and capable of developing training programs, internal controls, monitoring activities, and ensuring ongoing compliance with best practices.

Salary starts from 3800 EUR gross/monthly. Final salary depends on the successful candidate's level of experience, skills and qualifications.
