Legal Assistant
JOB SUMMARY

The Legal Assistant plays a key role within the Legal Department, supporting a wide range of projects and day-to-day activities that enable the company’s retail operations. This role partners closely with cross-functional teams including Merchandising, Procurement, IT, Marketing, Real Estate, Store Operations, and Finance to help ensure business needs are met while protecting the company’s legal and financial interests. The Legal Assistant serves as a central resource for contract review and administration, risk identification, regulatory compliance support, and contract lifecycle management.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSContract Review & Administration

Support the review and revision of a variety of contracts in partnership with the Legal and Procurement teams, including supply chain agreements, marketing contracts, SaaS and technology licenses, leases, and service agreements.

Ensure contracts align with company policies, mitigate legal and financial risk, and accurately reflect negotiated business terms.

Assist with contract workflows, approvals, execution, renewals, and expirations to support an efficient contract lifecycle process.

Help maintain organized and timely contracting processes by coordinating with internal stakeholders and Procurement.

Legal Department Support

Provide administrative and operational support to the Legal team across multiple functional areas.

Partner with internal business stakeholders on the execution of compliance-related matters.

Escalate complex or higher-risk legal issues to Legal leadership, as appropriate.

Develop, maintain, and organize Legal Department files, templates, and shared documentation.

Corporate Compliance & Risk Support

Assist in identifying and flagging potential regulatory compliance risks impacting the business.

Support research related to product sale requirements across various states and jurisdictions.

Assist with research related to business registrations, licenses, and other regulatory requirements at the state and local level.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Serve as a liaison between the Legal Department and business teams to help align contract terms with operational needs.

Translate legal concepts into clear, practical, and business-friendly guidance for internal partners.

Assist in creating, reviewing, and maintaining internal Legal documentation, guidelines, and process materials.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree or Paralegal certificate.

2–5 years of relevant experience, preferably in a corporate legal, procurement, or retail environment.

Working knowledge of contract law principles and general risk management practices.

Strong written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail.

Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and operate effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with contract lifecycle management (CLM) tools is a plus.
