Job Title: Senior Accountant - Capital AssetsJob Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant specializing in Capital Assets to join our Corporate and North America Accounting Team. This role is vital in managing the accounting processes for owned and leased capital assets, including acquisition, recording, depreciation, and valuation activities. As a key business partner, the Senior Accountant will collaborate with cross-functional departments such as Real Estate, IT, Facilities, and Finance to uphold global accounting policies and contribute to executive decision-making regarding capital expenditures.

ResponsibilitiesManage the full lifecycle of lease accounting, including new leases, modifications, and terminations.Ensure compliance with ASC 842, US GAAP, and internal lease and capital asset accounting policies.Maintain and reconcile lease schedules and related journal entries; support month-end close and financial reporting deliverables.Serve as the subject matter expert for lease accounting, collaborating with auditors, shared services, real estate, and compliance teams.Support ERP and lease software implementations or upgrades.Partner with shared services to develop and maintain global lease accounting processes and internal controls.Provide management reporting and analysis of global fixed and leased assets, consolidating inputs from all regions.Analyze project plans for capitalization and monitor capitalized costs for software and retail build/remodel projects.Monitor and record asset impairments, particularly for retail stores, ensuring proper accounting and disclosure.Engage with landlords to resolve rent payment and sales reporting issues.
Essential SkillsBachelor's degree in Accounting.Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience.Strong US GAAP experience and technical accounting knowledge.Experience in fixed assets, project, and leases accounting, preferably in the retail industry.Experience with accounting ERP systems, SAP preferred.Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.Experience working in a regional environment with multiple countries and local requirements.
Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience with Prolease lease accounting software.Retail industry experience.QuickBooks experience.Experience with reporting and analytical tools (TM1).
Work Environment

This position is hybrid, requiring presence in the office from Monday to Wednesday, with remote work on Thursday and Friday. The role entails occasional collaboration with teams in different time zones, particularly with our team in India. The work environment encourages engagement and presence on-site as much as possible.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Portland, Oregon.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $50.00/hr.
