**What You'll Do**
We’re looking for a Learning & Development Consultant to join our Plan Document Team! In this role, you’ll plan, design, and deliver advanced technical training. You’ll also support retirement plan systems and plan document solutions by developing training, documentation, and resources tied to key projects, system enhancements, and new legislation.
This role is highly collaborative, partnering closely with Learning & Development, Marketing, Compliance, Consulting, Business Consultants, Systems, and departmental SMEs to ensure consistent communication, accurate documentation, and effective hands-on training delivery. It’s an excellent opportunity for someone with strong retirement plan knowledge or an experienced trainer looking to deepen their expertise in plan design, systems, and retirement products.
**Key Responsibilities:**
**Training & Enablement**
+ Coordinate training for internal teams on new plan provisions, system updates, major projects, and technical initiatives.
+ Design and develop training materials including classes, reference guides, onboarding modules, and user documentation.
+ Deliver hands‑on training sessions, workshops, and ongoing support to staff.
+ Partner with Learning & Development and Marketing to create internal and external training communications.
+ Ensure all training materials remain accurate, up to date, and aligned with current systems, processes, and regulations.
**Documentation & Process Support**
+ Document procedures, workflows, and training plans with clarity and consistency.
+ Maintain and enhance documentation using established templates and standards.
+ Collaborate with Business Consultants and SMEs to validate content and ensure accuracy.
+ Translate system enhancements and project updates into clear, user‑friendly training materials.
**Subject Matter Expertise & Learning Strategy**
+ Apply strong understanding of plan provisions, Principal’s pre‑approved plan documents, RIS systems, plan UI, and related recordkeeping platforms.
+ Serve as a resource to internal teams by answering plan design and procedural questions.
+ Analyze learning needs, design and implement training solutions, and evaluate effectiveness to meet business expectations and service standards.
+ Own and manage training plans for complex business areas, ensuring alignment with overall functional training strategy.
+ Develop and maintain a comprehensive training curriculum to build staff expertise in plan design and service delivery.
+ Provide consultation to leaders and staff on training needs, performance improvement, and learning best practices.
+ Partner with Legal, Compliance, and other stakeholders to support large product rollouts and drive training strategy for major initiatives.

**Who You Are**
+ 6+ years of experience in financial services, insurance, or retirement, or an equivalent combination of work experience, training, military service, or education
+ 3+ years of experience in training, talent development, or instructional design
+ Strong analytical, leadership, problem solving, decision making, negotiation, planning, facilitation, and presentation skills
+ Excellent organizational, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
+ Results driven and detail oriented, with the ability to adapt to change in a fast paced, dynamic environment
+ Advanced legal and technical knowledge of retirement laws, regulations, plan document provisions, and related products and services
+ Experience designing and delivering training for pension plan designs
+ High level of creativity, resourcefulness, and innovation in developing learning solutions
+ Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively with individuals at all levels of the organization

**Salary Range Information**
Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.
**Salary Range (Non-Exempt expressed as hourly; Exempt expressed as yearly)**
$69300 - $110000 / year
**Time Off Program**
Flexible Time Off (FTO) is provided to salaried (exempt) employees and provides the opportunity to take time away from the office with pay for vacation, personal or short-term illness. Employees don’t accrue a bank of time off under FTO and there is no set number of days provided.

**Work Environments**
This role offers in-office, hybrid (blending at least three office days in a typical workweek), and remote work arrangements (only if residing more than 30 miles from Des Moines, IA, Charlotte, NC or Raleigh, NC). You’ll work with your leader to figure out which option may align best based on several factors.
