Together, we are building a better world, so we can all enjoy living in it. **Role Definition** **:** The main objective of this position is to apply fundamental engineering principles and fact-based decision-making tools to address complex challenges related to products, technology, and manufacturing processes. The individual will serve as the project leader for CPI projects that address quality, regulatory, or current product improvements for various L4 system teams, with a primary emphasis on Electrical Integration for Mining trucks. Responsibilities include leading and participating in projects from defining requirements through to production, ensuring the resulting products deliver high performance, durability, quality, and serviceability. **Background/Experience:** Requires a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering curriculum plus 12-15 years of experience or a master’s degree in mechanical engineering curriculum plus 10-12 years of experience. Knowledgeable design process & tools – Good understanding of APQP, DFMEA, GD&T, Concurrent product & process development and Change management process. Top candidates will also have experience with end-to-end product development for Large Mining Trucks or similar mining equipment, including collaboration with Manufacturing, Test, and Product Support teams. They should have participated in at least one complete product development cycle, providing complex engineering solutions that cover design, analysis, testing and validation, as well as resolving field issues. **Skill Descriptors** **:** Analytical Thinking: Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems. Level Working Knowledge: • Identifies and documents specific problems and resolution alternatives. • Examines a specific problem and understands the perspective of each involved stakeholder. • Develops alternative techniques for assessing accuracy and relevance of information. • Helps to analyze risks and benefits of alternative approaches and obtain decision on resolution. • Uses fact-finding techniques and diagnostic tools to identify problems. • Should be able to understand techno commercial aspects of design, design for manufacturability, product behaviours in field. Six Sigma Methodology: Knowledge of the concepts of six sigma DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control) methodology; ability to use the methodology to improve the manufacturing processes and control the improvements by eliminating root causes. Level Working Knowledge: • Analyzes business priorities for selecting potential critical metrics. • Uses tools (e.g. trend charts, Pareto charts, sigma conversion chart) to measure historical performance. • Researches important causes that have an impact on quality and customer satisfaction with the use of statistical tools. • Resolves routine problems in a cost effective manner. • Reports deviances from process improvements. Influencing: Knowledge of effective influencing tactics and strategies; ability to impact decisions within and outside own organization. Level Working Knowledge: • Develops basic persuasive arguments. • Discusses organizational culture around providing input on decisions. • Uses active listening skills and probing techniques to surface opportunities to influence. • Identifies who the decision makers are and how they receive information. • Regularly presents ideas or suggestions to associates in persuasive terms. Interpersonal Relationships: Knowledge of the techniques and the ability to work with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner. Level Working Knowledge: • Provides input for Gantt or PERT charts or their equivalent to track project progress and status. • Under guidance, plans and estimates simple projects. • Assists in detailed project plans including cost, schedule, and resource requirements. • Obtains information from stakeholders during the planning stage of a project. • Produces standard project status reports.
