Perform work involving the skills of two or more maintenance or craft occupations to keep machines, mechanical equipment, and facility structures in good repair. Duties may include pipe fitting, boiler making, insulating, welding, machining, carpentry, repairing electrical or mechanical equipment, installing and aligning new equipment, and repairing buildings, floors, or stairs.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesAssist with all maintenance activities, prioritizing employee safety at all times
Support and oversee maintenance staff as needed
Inspect, operate, and test machinery or equipment to diagnose malfunctions
Measure and report the effectiveness of maintenance activities and employee performance
Partner with management to address attendance, performance, and disciplinary matters
Assist in implementing new methods, processes, and operational improvements
Continuously identify opportunities to improve processes and productivity
Ensure facility equipment is properly maintained and operational
Communicate and collaborate with other maintenance team members
Train, guide, and evaluate new maintenance employees
Dismantle machines or equipment to access and remove defective parts using appropriate tools
Perform routine and preventive maintenance (e.g., inspecting motors, belts, fluid levels, filters)
Diagnose mechanical issues using blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs
Repair, replace, or maintain industrial production and processing machinery
Disassemble and reassemble machinery to complete repairs
Test equipment operation using tools such as voltmeters and diagnostic devices
Repair machines, equipment, or structures using hand tools and precision instruments
Maintain or repair specialized equipment in offices, cafeterias, or factory settings
Assemble, install, or repair wiring, plumbing, pipe systems, machinery, and equipment
Clean, lubricate, and adjust machinery components as needed
Record maintenance activities, including type and cost of repairs
Perform routine maintenance and structural reinforcement to ensure optimal efficiency
Required Skills and QualificationsProven experience as an assistant director or in a similar maintenance leadership role
Basic knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems
Experience using hand and power tools
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and drawings
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Physical stamina and manual dexterity
Ability to be covered under company insurance
Valid driver’s license
High school diploma or equivalent
Preferred Skills and QualificationsPrevious related work experience or technical knowledge preferred, but not required
Working ConditionsWork may be performed indoors or outdoors based on maintenance needs
Exposure to variable temperatures depending on season and job location
Tasks may involve moderate to heavy physical labor
Regular walking, standing, climbing, sitting, lifting, and bending required
Physical RequirementsAbility to lift, carry, push, and/or pull 25–80 pounds as required
Ability to respond quickly to sounds and visual cues
Ability to move safely over uneven terrain and work in confined spaces
Ability to recognize and respond to potentially hazardous situations
Ability to safely climb ladders while carrying up to 40 pounds and working at heights above 42 inches
Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl for 8–12 hours per day
Ability to work in extreme weather conditions
Ability to properly wear personal protective equipment for most of the workday
