Lead Trauma Registrar

Job Summary:
The Lead Trauma Registrar will be responsible for the high-quality detailed data collection and entry, statistics and reporting of data from University Hospital into the trauma registry. Patients meeting NTDB, NYS DOH, and internal program inclusion criteria will be identified daily and entered. Registrars manage their own caseload and responsible for timely data entry with the requirement that 80% of charts will be closed within 60 days of discharge. Additionally, the registrar will be responsible for generating reports, and downloading data for submission to the New York State Trauma Registry and National Trauma Data Bank. The Lead Trauma Registrar will be responsible for the daily assignment of registry cases to team members, SPARCS chart abstractions, maintenance of daily program stats and the facilitation of some registry meeting content.
Minimum Qualifications:
Associate degree in Nursing, Medical Informatics, or related field AND a minimum of 3 years related experience OR an equivalent combination of experience/certification and experience required. Must have attended the following courses or within 12 months of hire: (1) the American Trauma Societies Trauma Registrar Course or equivalent provided by a state trauma program (2) the Association of the Advancement of Automotive Medicine's Injury Scaling Course and (3) Trauma specific ICD-10 Coding training. Must meet and maintain continuing education requirements as required by both NYS DOH and the American College of Surgeons or another verification designee. Excellent written/oral communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills required. At least 2yrs Trauma Registry experience required. Either CAISS or CSTR credential required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Imagetrend Patient Registry experience preferred. Epic EMR experience preferred. Microsoft Office experience preferred.
