As a Lead Software Engineer, Test Strategy in our Chief Security Office (CSO), you’ll play a critical role in protecting millions of customers and the infrastructure that powers our world. What You’ll Do:
Engineer World-Class Testing:Design, implement, and maintain comprehensive test frameworks and automation pipelines that ensure every aspect of Astra is secure, reliable, and performs at scale.Champion QA and Security:
Integrate advanced security testing, threat modeling, and incident simulations into the QA process—keeping our platform and customers a step ahead of cyber threats.Innovate with Automation and AI:
Leverage the latest in test automation, AI-driven testing, and non-functional testing techniques to maximize coverage, efficiency, and insight across functional, performance, and security domains.Collaborate and Influence:
Work closely with software engineers, product managers, and security specialists to embed quality and security from the earliest design stages through release.Mentor and Inspire:
Guide junior engineers and peers in best practices for test automation, code quality, and secure development—building a culture of excellence and continuous learning.Drive Data-Driven Quality:
Use metrics, analytics, and feedback loops to continuously improve testing processes, detect issues early, and accelerate time-to-value for new features.Elevate the User Experience:
Ensure that rigorous testing delivers not only secure and resilient solutions, but also intuitive and seamless user experiences.
Who You Are:
An expert in building and scaling test automation for cloud-native platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).Deeply knowledgeable about modern QA methodologies, security testing, CI/CD pipelines, and automation frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Cypress, JUnit, PyTest).Experienced in integrating security principles and tools into the software development lifecycle.A collaborative team player, able to communicate complex ideas effectively across technical and non-technical audiences.Passionate about mentoring, continuous learning, and staying ahead of evolving technology and threat landscapes.Creative, adaptable, and ready to solve complex challenges in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.Desirable Skills:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Cybersecurity, or related field.5+ years of hands-on experience in software engineering, test automation, or QA for cloud-based platforms.Experience with AI/ML-driven testing or emerging automation tools.Proven record of successfully leading quality initiatives through technological and organizational change.Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree (MS/MA) in Computer Science, Engineering, or Cybersecurity preferred. 5+ years of related experience in software engineering and test automation.

Our Lead Software Engineering earns between $141,300-$211,900 USD Annual, not to mention all the other amazing rewards that working at AT&T offers. Individual starting salary within this range may depend on geography, experience, expertise, and education/training.
