Lead Machine Learning Engineer

Key Qualifications, Skills, and Responsibilities

This is a lead-level role requiring technical depth across programming, cloud, big data, machine learning, and distributed systems. Responsibilities include end-to-end ML model lifecycle (development, evaluation, deployment, monitoring), infrastructure management, and collaboration with cross-functional teams, all in the context of telecom and large-scale data solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Model Development & Training: Selecting algorithms, feature engineering, training, and optimizing models using historical data.Model Evaluation & Tuning: Assessing model performance, hyperparameter tuning, and cross-validation for robustness.Deployment & Integration: Deploying ML models in production, developing APIs, and integrating with existing systems.Monitoring & Maintenance: Continuous monitoring, retraining, addressing model/data drift, error analysis, and improvement.Infrastructure & Automation: Setting up cloud/distributed infrastructure, automating processes with scripting and orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow).Collaboration & Communication: Working cross-functionally with stakeholders, maintaining documentation, and providing regular updates.Agile Environment: Operates within highly agile and collaborative teams.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Science/Engineering;8+ years in software development - SDLC expertise, big data, and SQL.Programming Languages: Python, Scala, Java, SQL (MySQL/PostgreSQL), shell-scripting; NoSQL (Cassandra, MongoDB, Redis).Data Tools & Technologies: Data warehouse (Snowflake, Databricks), ETL tools (Talend, Informatica, Apache NiFi), BI and analytics (Tableau, Excel), Data exploration, summarization, and visualization.Big Data & Streaming: Spark, Kafka, Flume, Storm, Flink, Hadoop query languages (Pig, Hive, Scalding, Cascalog, PyCascading), IBM InfoSphere Streams.DevOps & Cloud: Docker, Kubernetes (AKS), Jenkins, CI/CD pipelines, Git, Jira, Azure DevOps, Azure ML, Palantir Foundry, distributed cloud environments.Machine Learning & Data Science: Model development, feature engineering, training, evaluation (accuracy, precision, recall, F1, AUC-ROC), tuning, deployment, and integration.Frameworks & Libraries: scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Numpy, Pandas, OpenCV, Hugging Face Transformers, Spacy, NLTK.APIs & Integration: REST services, MQ/Rabbit, Redis, Hazelcast.Domain Knowledge: Telecom sector expertise is preferred.

Summary of skills required:Python, Scala, Java, Telecom domain knowledge, Data-Warehouse/ DataBricks knowledge, NoSQL-JSON-Document store (e.g. MongoDB), Data-Mapper (e.g. Nifi), Data Analytics, Spark, Kafka and Azure technology, Machine Learning and Modelling.

Our Lead Software Engineering earns between $143,800-$215,800 USD Annual. Not to mention all the other amazing rewards that working at AT&T offers. Individual starting salary within this range may depend on geography, experience, expertise, and education/training.
