Lead Software Engineer

Together, we are building a better world, so we can all enjoy living in it. **Job Summary:** We are seeking an experienced and motivated Release Manager with strong DevOps skills to join our dynamic team responsible for Caterpillar's eCommerce sites for online parts sales. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the release process, ensuring that all software updates and new releases are delivered smoothly and efficiently. This role requires a deep understanding of DevOps practices, excellent project management skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. **What You Will Do:** • Manage the end-to-end release process, including planning, scheduling, coordinating, and executing software releases. • Work closely with development, operations, and quality assurance teams to ensure seamless integration and delivery of new features and updates. • Implement and maintain continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines to automate the release process. • Monitor and troubleshoot release-related issues, ensuring timely resolution and minimal impact on production environments. • Develop and maintain release documentation, including release notes, deployment guides, and rollback plans. • Collaborate with stakeholders to define release schedules, establish release criteria, and ensure alignment with business objectives. • Conduct post-release reviews and retrospectives to identify areas for improvement and implement best practices. • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies to continuously enhance our release management processes. **What You Will Have:** • Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors. • Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations. • Customer Support Policies, Standards and Procedures: Knowledge of the organization's customer support policies, standards and procedures; ability to guide customers on all company interactions. • Software Product Technical Knowledge: Knowledge of technical aspects of a software products; ability to design, configure and integrate technical aspects of software products. • Software Release Management: Knowledge of strategies, practices and tools for managing versions and distribution of software products and enhancements; ability to evaluate and improve release management practices and tools. • Software Reliability Management: Knowledge of software reliability management; ability to develop and use principles, methodologies and metrics that increase software product performance and reliability. • Performance Measurement and Tuning: Knowledge of system performance, testing and programming; ability to monitor, measure, and optimize system performance and network communication. • Technical Troubleshooting: Knowledge of technical troubleshooting approaches, tools and techniques; ability to anticipate, recognize, and resolve technical issues on hardware, software, application or operation. **Considerations For Top Candidates:** • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field OR equivalent working experience • Proven experience as a Release Manager, DevOps Engineer, or in a similar role. • Strong understanding of DevOps principles and practices, including CI/CD, infrastructure as code, and automated testing. • Experience with popular DevOps tools and technologies, such as Azure DevOps, GitHub, Git, Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes, and Ansible. • Excellent project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously. • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with a keen attention to detail. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders. • Familiarity with Agile and Scrum methodologies. • Preferred Skills and Qualifications • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud. • Certifications in DevOps or related fields, such as AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, Certified Kubernetes Administrator, or similar. • Experience with monitoring and logging tools, such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack, AppDynamics, or Splunk. • eCommerce application experience, especially built on the HCL Commerce platform **Here are the additional responsibilities :** 1. Support CAT Digital Initiatives • Strengthen internal capabilities to support CAT digital goals. • Drive enhanced customer engagement and increased online parts sales through robust support. 2. Lead eCommerce Operations & System Administration • Oversee day-to-day eCommerce operations currently managed by CAT team member who closely works with the Tier 2 and Tier 3 Accenture support teams and works with scrum masters and developers to prioritize issues and the release tickets. • Ensure platform stability, performance, and scalability through the current system administrator who handles the infrastructure level POD (E-commerce Servers) monitoring and maintaining the servers, responsible for the Devops CI/CD pipeline build and deployment and troubleshooting the pipeline issue and handling the production deployment as per the ITSM process 3. Manage ITSM activities across following areas Lead change, release, incident, and problem management processes for: • Helios • Telematics • Mission-critical applications 4. Drive Release Management excellence for eCommerce Collaborate with development, operations, and QA teams to: • Plan and execute seamless releases. • Integrate new features and updates with minimal disruption. • Maintain compliance with ITIL and SDLC standards.
