Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

Combine knowledge of PET physics, reconstruction, engineering, and clinical needs to design and drive collaborative research projects aligned to short term, medium term, and long term business needs. This includes evidence generation on GEHC technology with a primary focus on PET but with opportunities to support SPECT as well.Work with new technologies such as total body PET to support clinical implementation, adoption, and development of new clinical applications  Partner across GEHC with scientists, engineers, and product leaders to develop prototypes, validate performance, and accelerate the transition of research tools into product‑ready solutions.Lead original research that results in impactful publications, conference presentations, and patent applications—elevating GE HealthCare’s leadership in MI innovation.Effectively communicate technical analyses and results to GEHC leadership, academic partners, and at scientific congresses and meetings.Explore unmet clinical and technical needs with external collaborators and translate to define and grow research and development needs. Maintain and grow collaborator networks and drive insights into GEHC roadmap planning and marketing for appropriate utilization of results.Use and further develop research tools to enable current and future research. Partner with engineering to handoff implementation and integration of research tools in product environment.Seek out and pursue external grants and other partnerships to expand resources and impact.Identify industry and academic trends in the areas of MI research and development relevant to GEHC

Required Qualifications

Ph.D. Degree in an engineering or science field such as Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Math, or PhysicsMinimum 4 years of experience in medical imaging, image processing, or related application development.Demonstrated experience in MI research and developmentHands‑on experience applying machine learning and AI techniques in imaging, signal processing, and/or development.Experience in developing with modern programming languages e.g. Python, R, Scala, Java, MATLAB etc.Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities, with a collaborative mindset and passion for working in cross‑functional teams.A proactive, curious, and adaptable approach—comfortable taking on new scientific and technical challenges.Strong track record and experience in publishing scientific articles, with key emphasis in MI physics and applicationsExcellent English language communication skills

Desired Characteristics

Familiarity with large data sets, open source practices and frameworks and experience in putting intelligent applications in production are desirable.Experience with High Performance Compute or GPU technologies
