Lead Relief Operator

General Description: The Lead Relief Operator is responsible for supporting daily production operations by assisting Production Operators, providing skilled coverage across all machine centers, and helping maintain continuous workflow. This role includes troubleshooting mechanical and process issues in collaboration with the Maintenance team, ensuring safe and efficient operation of equipment, and delivering training to operators as needed. The Lead Relief Operator must maintain full operating proficiency on all production systems and serve as a key resource for operational continuity and problem-solving. Principal Responsibilities: + Assist the Production Supervisor by directing and supporting Production Operators in daily tasks. + Maintain operating proficiency on all machine centers and provide hands-on training to new Operators. + Create, update, and audit Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for accuracy and compliance. + Monitor production line performance and adjust equipment to ensure safe, efficient operation. + Maintain required quality, safety, and production standards across all processes. + Inspect the work area regularly to identify and prevent potential contamination risks. + Troubleshoot equipment issues and coordinate with Maintenance as needed. + Perform basic preventive maintenance, including pre-checks, lubrication, and sanitary seal replacement. + Complete tasks in the Master Sanitation Schedule and maintain proper documentation. + Load raw ingredients per SOPs and safely transfer finished product to the next process step. + Verify that finished product meets all company quality specifications. + Sanitize equipment, tools, and work areas at the end of each shift. + Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and regulatory guidelines. + Perform other duties as assigned. Education/Experience: + Previous experience in a production or manufacturing environment, preferably with highly automated equipment. + Forklift operation experience required. + Working knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Preventive Controls, and cleaning/sanitation procedures. + Proficient in computer use and Microsoft Office applications. + Knowledge of quality assurance practices is a plus. + Prior Team Lead or supervisory experience is preferred. Qualifications: + Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds consistently throughout the workday. + Capacity to frequently bend, crouch, kneel and stoop to perform operational duties. + Strong organizational abilities to manage tasks, materials, and equipment efficiently in a fast-paced environment. + Able to read, understand, and follow written instructions and SOPs. + Strong communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with employees and management. + Proactive approach to identifying and addressing issues, with the ability to troubleshoot and implement solutions in a timely manner.
