Lead RAN Engineering- GIS

Job Description:

This position requires office presence of a minimum of 5 days per week and is only located in the location(s) posted. No relocation is offered.

What you’ll do:

Design, develop, and maintain GIS databases supporting wireless and wireline network assets

Integrate spatial data from multiple sources (engineering systems, field data, imagery, GPS)

Produce maps, dashboards, and analytical reports to support network planning and decision‑making

Perform spatial and network analyses to identify coverage gaps, capacity needs, and expansion opportunities

Support cross‑functional teams with geospatial data and GIS expertise

Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and compliance with internal standards

What you’ll need:

As a Lead RAN Engineering, recognized as an expert, creatively resolving complex issues with broad and in-depth knowledge.  Leads significant projects with strategic autonomy, influencing executive decisions.  Mentors less experienced staff, implements long-term plans impacting the organization, and frequently collaborates with senior leadership. 


Provide expert radio frequency (RF) engineering and Radio Access Network (RAN) design engineering to ensure robust and efficient network performance.  Develop strategic solutions; ensure alignment with organizational goals; solve moderate to complex issues.

What you’ll bring:

Required Experience:

5+ years’ related experience.

Certification is required in some areas.

Required Qualifications:

3 – 5 years of experience in GIS engineering or GIS analysis, preferably in a telecommunications environment.

Strong proficiency with GIS and spatial analytics software, including: Esri ArcGIS (ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Online), MapInfo (or similar desktop GIS platforms), Alteryx for spatial data preparation, analytics, and workflow automation.

Solid understanding of telecommunications network infrastructure, including wireless (macro/small cell, 4G/5G) and/or fiber networks.

Experience managing spatial and attribute databases, including data models, schema, metadata, and quality control.

Ability to perform spatial analysis, network analysis, and geospatial modeling to support coverage, capacity, and build‑out decisions.

Working knowledge of SQL and geospatial databases (e.g., PostgreSQL/PostGIS or equivalent).

Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex spatial data into clear maps, dashboards, and reports for technical and non‑technical audience.

Bachelor’s degree in Math, Science, Engineering, Computer Sciences or Operations preferred

This position may be responsible for contributing to AT&T compliance with environmental laws and regulations as applicable to its job function. This may include, but is not limited to, work related to fuel tanks, emergency and stand-by generators, boilers, hazardous waste, hazardous materials, batteries, manholes and vaults, water wells, linear and other construction projects, water discharge, or air emissions.

Our Lead RAN Engineering, earns between $143,800 - $215,800 annually.  Not to mention all the other amazing rewards that working at AT&T offers. Individual starting salary within this range may depend on geography, experience, expertise, and education/training.
