This role will support the team in achieving its development roadmap goals, reporting to the Manager of Product Engineering. This role will involve advanced coding, system design, and optimizing software solutions that enhance our product performance and usability. This person will ensure quality outcomes and drive technological innovations.
Essential Duties and responsibilities
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
From a technology perspective, this role will fully engage as an engineer on project work, while ensuring the team and tech stack is staying current with new and emerging technologies. From a leadership perspective, while this role will have zero direct reports, there is an expectation that they will spend time training and training and elevating Associate and Senior engineers.
Responsibilities:
Join a development team (scrum team), providing engineering best practices, leadership, and best practices to help ensure project deadlines and roadmap objectives are met.Mentor teammates in an open, respectful, flexible, empathetic manner while seeking out mentoring opportunities.Design services and systems using well accepted design patterns to allow for iterative, autonomous development and future scaling.Foster a culture of delivering praise and constructive feedback within their team while actively demonstrating these behaviors.Consistently helps their teammates overcome obstacles, resolve blockers, and complete work tasks.Keep current with new and emerging technologies, and ensure relevant information is both socialized with the other engineers, as well as advocated for to use within technology stack.Rotate through primary and secondary operational support and participate in product incident management.Job Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s in computer science (or related field) or equivalent experience.
Basic Qualifications
Overall experience of 10+ years with 3+ years in leading and mentoring a team as Technical Lead.Strong Java and JavaScript programming skills. Experience with one or more multiple server-side Java development technologies and tools such as Tomcat, Servlets, Spring, Jersey, JDBC, MyBatis, XML, JSON, JMS, ActiveMQ.Experience using HTML/CSS/VueJS or other JavaScript frameworks to implement modular, high performance, and functional user interfaces. Experience with VueJS or other JavaScript frameworks is a plus.Knowledge of common design patterns, design principles , Object Oriented Design and industry best practices.Experience with API design, Microservice architecture, Cloud technologies and REST principles.Experience with automated unit and integration testing and SDLC tools like Jenkins, Sonarqube, JIRA, GIT, Eclipse, IntelliJ, Maven, and Gradle.Experience utilizing cloud native technologies to deliver software solutions, especially refactoring legacy systems to be cloud nativeStrong ability to plan, commit, and deliver work for an entire projectComfortable working with relational database engines (Oracle, Couchbase preferred)Experience working in an agile scrum environmentDemonstrated success leading and mentoring engineers, providing feedback, doing code reviews, and working to build a happy and successful teamPreferred Qualifications
Experience in developing and troubleshooting database stored procedures and SQL performance tuningExperience/Strong willingness to leverage AI-assisted development using GitHub Copilot/Amazon Q/Amazon Code/Amazon Whisperer/Microsoft IntelliCode/Claude Code/Cursor is a huge plus.Proficient in command-line and shell scriptsAbility to collaborate well on a cross-functional teamAbility to imagine yourself in the customer’s shoesKnowledge of cloud technology (e.g. Azure)Knowledge of application security practicesOther Knowledge, Skills, Abilities or Certifications:
