Lead Product Designer - Uber AI
**About the Role** Uber is evolving the way the world moves by integrating advanced intelligence into every facet of our global platform to create more intuitive and proactive experiences. We are establishing a core leadership group to define how the next generation of AI-driven interactions will scale across our flagship products and physical-world logistics. We are looking for a strategic coach/player—a Lead Product Designer with deep AI fluency and the organizational maturity to architect Uber's intelligence layer. You are a systems thinker comfortable in the trenches of high-fidelity craft and capable of rallying global teams around a shared vision. **What You Will Do** - Partner within a high-density senior design pod to define the high-level design strategy for intelligent experiences and agentic behaviors across the user journey. - Establish a unified horizontal AI strategy, partnering with vertical product teams to ensure localized experiments align with a cohesive global design language. - Drive the evolution of global AI design standards, translating flagship innovations into scalable frameworks and primitives that empower teams across the organization. - Solve the complex product experience challenges of non-deterministic systems, using rapid prototyping to validate system uncertainty, multimodal interaction, and trust in physical-world logistics. - Work with user research to conduct rapid testing and synthesis of agentic experience learnings to form a framework and UX principles. - Partner with senior Engineering and Product leads to shape the AI roadmap, advocating for design-led technical investments that enable proactive, human-centered behaviors. - Serve as an organizational "bar-raiser," collaborating with peer leads to navigate new technical paradigms and raise collective AI fluency while maintaining an exceptional standard for individual craft. **Basic Qualifications** - 7+ years of experience in product design, leading high-visibility projects in complex, multi-service environments **Preferred Qualifications** - Direct experience launching Generative AI features, LLM-driven interfaces, or multi-step agentic workflows in a consumer-facing context. - Track record of translating a North Star product vision into a codified UI framework or system for others to build upon. - Deep understanding of LLM capabilities, latency, and multimodal inputs, with experience partnering closely with engineering on technical specs. - Proficiency in high-fidelity prototyping, motion design, or AI-specific tools to simulate non-linear, real-time system behaviors. - Technically curious and experimental, with a proven ability to translate frontier technologies into tangible product experiences. - Proven ability to drive organizational alignment across diverse product verticals through collaborative leadership and consensus-building. - Experience building or governing design systems adopted at scale across multiple product surfaces. - Exceptional ability to communicate complex product visions and technical tradeoffs to executive stakeholders. - Adept at navigating extreme ambiguity and leading 0-1 initiatives with the strategic agility to recalibrate in response to shifting technical paradigms. For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$211,000 per year - USD$234,000 per year. You will be eligible to participate in Uber's bonus program, and may be offered an equity award & other types of comp. You will also be eligible for various benefits.
