About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Operational Risk Officer


In this role, you will:

Develop, implement, and monitor risk-based programs to identify, assess, and mitigate any operational risk that arises from inadequate or failed internal processes, people, systems, or external events

Maintain a balance between risk mitigation and operational efficiency

Evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of policies, procedures, processes, systems, and internal controls

Analyze extremely complex business and system changes to determine impact, identify operational risk issues and participate in the development of risk ratings

Provide operational risk expertise and consulting to complex business units for initiatives with high risk, generally spanning multiple business lines

Design and develop the most complex testing strategies, methodologies and analyses

Consult with the business to develop corrective action plans and effectively manage change

Identify training opportunities

Design and coordinate the development of training materials and coordinate or deliver training

Report findings and develop business cases to influence executive management, management committee member or head of business on the need for controls to mitigate risk

Collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues, and managers to resolve issues and achieve goals

Lead project or virtual teams and mentor less experienced staff


Required Qualifications:

5+ years of Operational Risk experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

Desired Qualifications:

10+ years of Operational Risk, Fiduciary Risk, Compliance risk, or a combination of experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education.3+ years of prior experience in trust administration/ fiduciary services/ fiduciary riskStrong risk management and compliance skillsHands on experience in trust administrationFamiliarity with state trust lawsExperience with SEI Trust 3000 softwareKnowledge and understanding of fiduciary law and federal regulationsKnowledge and understanding of fiduciary, investment, or planning disciplinesKnowledge and understanding of investment risk and compliance management processesKnowledge and understanding of trust, fiduciary law, and federal regulations/operationsAbility to influence across all organizational levels, particularly senior managementCFIRS or related certification preferred

Job Expectations:

This role will be part of the Fiduciary Risk Oversight (“FRO”) unit of Operational Risk Coverage Programs. FRO’s program is designed to proactively and systematically identify, assess, measure, monitor, control and report on significant fiduciary risks to Wells Fargo and its customers. The primary business group currently in scope for this oversight program is Wealth & Investment Management.

Provides fiduciary risk expertise to the trust business and oversight of the trust administrative account review processProvides subject matter expertise to the businesses and supporting group partners on select OCC regulations and risk topicsMonitors the regulatory and industry environment and identifies fiduciary risk issues and may participate in development of risk ratingsDesigns and develop complex oversight strategies, monitoring routines, methodologies and analyses for business fiduciary products and servicesEvaluates the adequacy and effectiveness of policies, procedures, processes, systems and internal controlsProvide operational risk oversight in line with the risk management framework and the various risk and control programs (example – RCSA, ICP, Issue Management, ORKRI, etc.)Provides consulting to business on corrective action plans and effectively managing changeReports findings and develop business cases to influence executive management or management committee member/ head of business on the need for controls to mitigate riskMay lead implementation of initiatives with moderate to high risk and escalate challenges to senior leadersInternal collaboration with key stakeholders in Corporate Risk and Business Groups for oversight of F&I riskMay interface with Internal Audit, Legal, external agencies, and regulatory bodies on risk related topicsMay lead project/virtual teams and may mentor team members

This position is subject to FINRA Background Screening Requirements, including successful completion and clearing of a background check. Internal transfers are subject to comply with 17 CRF 240.17f-2 of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934 and FINRA Bylaws, Article III, Section 3, which states that Associated Persons should not be subject to statutory disqualification.
