Job Description
We are seeking a Lead Operating Engineer to assist in supervising and directing maintenance staff, maintaining a central utility plant, performing maintenance service requests, and ensuring the continuous operation of all building systems. This role requires supervision of 9 maintenance professionals / engineers on the second shift.
Responsibilities
Assist in supervising and directing maintenance staff on shift and monitor performance of assigned responsibilities.Perform and/or direct the performance of all maintenance departmental service requests, ensuring efficient work with minimal disruption.Check malfunctioning equipment and determine corrective action required.Assist in providing training and supervision to expand the capabilities of the operations staff, including demonstrating tool use, instructing in maintenance and safety procedures, and recommending relevant courses.Implement and supervise the preventative maintenance program, including scheduling and delegating tasks, ordering parts, and maintaining inventory.Direct the performance of contracted maintenance work, ensuring timely completion and fulfillment of equipment warranty obligations.Maintain, monitor, and perform preventive maintenance on all building systems, including fire/life safety, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems.Analyze system operations, identify problems, and take corrective actions as needed.Comply with departmental policy for safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials.Maintain a clean and safe workplace.Ensure availability of an adequate operating inventory of tools and supplies, including preparing purchase orders and performing periodic supply checks.Manage and lead the engineering team to operate machinery and systems safely and cost-effectively.Ensure the highest level of professionalism and commitment to achieving 100% uptime.Oversee contractor activities and ensure contractors are informed and knowledgeable about building functions.Keep records of building rounds, readings, engineering logs, and data sheets.Understand and comply with emergency escalation procedures.Ensure strict adherence to engineering guidelines, processes, and procedures.Additional Skills & Qualifications
High school diploma or GED.Experience with plumbing, HVAC, electrical systems, chillers, boilers, and building automation systems (BAS).Accredited trade school degree in HVAC, electronics, or related trade.Mathematical skills to calculate load balancing, proportions, and volume.Stationary Engineer / Steam Engineer License strongly preferred.Work Schedule
The shift is from Tuesday to Saturday, 2 pm to 10:30 pm.Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $45.00/hr.
