Job Title: Lead Steward
Job Description

Oversee the daily operation of the stewarding department, including ware washing, china, glass, and silver washing, storage, and organization. Conduct bi-yearly inventory of items and delegate tasks for kitchen cleaning and organization projects. Ensure operational equipment is organized and clean for daily and banquet event needs. Attend weekly operational meetings to discuss progress and objectives. Train and develop team members, holding them accountable to high standards of food safety and sanitation, while ensuring appropriate use of chemicals and equipment. Assist with food production tasks as required.

ResponsibilitiesOrganize and prioritize multiple projects to meet deadlines.Practice safe and sanitary food handling and preparation procedures.Take direction from Executive Chef and Sous Chefs; ask questions when necessary.Maintain clean, organized, and hygienic work areas.Communicate and follow up with all team members; assist and provide support as needed.Take full responsibility and ownership of the cleanliness in the kitchen and Food & Beverage storage areas.Delegate tasks to team members based on their responsibilities and department operations.Train and develop team members, holding them accountable for maintaining food safety and proficiently using equipment and ware washing.Supervise and coordinate activities of pantry, storeroom, and non-cooking kitchen staff.Inspect kitchens, work areas, storeroom, and equipment for cleanliness and order.Lead and assist with daily ware washing and trash removal.Maintain cleanliness and organization of loading dock and trash bay.Conduct bi-yearly inventory on china, glass, and silver.Assist culinary staff during special requests, menus, events, or priorities as requested by the Executive Chef and/or Sous Chefs.Assist with onboarding new team members, including training and development.Perform other kitchen duties as assigned.Essential SkillsAt least five years of experience in stewarding, kitchen maintenance, kitchen operations, or a similar job category, preferably in hospitality.Proficiency in cleaning, janitorial duties, dishwashing, production, and food preparation.Ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects to meet deadlines.Effective communication and follow-up skills with team members.Additional Skills & QualificationsAbility to practice safe and sanitary food handling and preparation procedures.Skill in maintaining clean, organized, and hygienic work areas.Why Work Here?

Work Environment

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Los Angeles, California.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $28.00/hr.
