Lead Infrastructure Engineer- Linux and Networks

As a Lead Infrastructure Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Infrastructure Platforms, you apply deep knowledge of software, applications, and technical processes within the infrastructure engineering discipline. Continue to evolve your technical and cross-functional knowledge outside of your aligned domain of expertise.  

 

Job responsibilities

Applies technical expertise and problem-solving methodologies to projects of moderate scopeDrives a workstream or project consisting of one or more infrastructure engineering technologiesWorks with other platforms to architect and implement changes required to resolve issues and modernize the organization and its technology processesManages the deployment of relevant Linux (RHEL) OS and application security updates, monitor system health and security to ensure updates are applied successfullyDevelops strategies to optimize security and performance for Linux environmentsAutomates physical network design using our existing tools and implement new tools to support scale and performance requirementsPartners with the in-house Software Engineering, Tooling, Product and Delivery teams to codify the network designs including the tooling required to provision, manage, monitor, and troubleshoot our networks

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

Formal training or certification on technical and Linux Enterprise concepts and 5+ years applied experienceMinimum 5 years of work experience with designing, deploying and operating large-scale Linux systems and networksDeep knowledge of one specific infrastructure technology and scripting languages (e.g., Python, JavaScript, yaml, Json, Bash,  etc.)Deep knowledge of cloud infrastructure and multiple cloud technologies with the ability to operate in and migrate across public and private cloudsStrong expertise  in Linux Operating Systems, installation, configuration,  networking, automation/orchestration including provisioning and patchingExperience with tools like Ansible, Terraform, AAAS, Puppet, or Chef for automating configuration management and deployment processesStrong knowledge of Linux security practices, patch management, and troubleshooting. Understanding of network configuration and management in RHEL, including firewalls, routing, and network servicesExpertise in installing, configuring, and maintaining RHEL systems, including package management, OS updates, patching, user management, and system updatesWorking knowledge of several Hypervisors (Hyper-V, ESXi, KVM, VMWARE, OpenShift)Experience configuring and troubleshooting routing and switching protocols (BGP, OSPF, VXLAN, MPLS, RSVP-TE, IS-IS) Working knowledge of network protocols (TCP/UDP, DHCP, DNS, LB, FWL, Proxy) and experience with IPv4 and IPv6

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

Working knowledge of 40/100/400G Ethernet and CWDM, DWDM and optical transport network technologiesUnderstanding of different Optics and internals of a switch ASICWorking knowledge of physical infrastructure design including structured cabling and fiber-optic cabling
