Lead Food Service Worker – NYU Langone Orthopedic Hospital *P/T 15 hrs per week, Varied Days & Shifts (7A-3P, 11A-7P, 3P-7P) including Weekends, MUST BE FLEXIBLE TO WORK ANY ASSIGNED SHIFTS*

Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Lead Food Service Worker.

In this role, the successful candidate is responsible for the processing and coordination of patient food and nutrition orders. Assumes lead role at times incorporating elements of operational duties to ensure the smooth functioning of the diet office, and patient meal services.

Job Responsibilities:

Assists supervisors in coordinating bulk supplies, special orders and tallies as directed. Monitors PODs systems during service times. Attends training classes and meetings as directed. Demonstrates knowledge of the organizations Service Standards and incorporates them into the performance of duties. Employs the principle of positive guest relations, maintaining a good rapport and cooperative working relationship with all patients including co-workers and multi disciplinary team members. Responsible for posting the daily census, reviewing all messages, noting sick calls and assisting the management team members in securing operational coverage as needed. Maintains diet office systems including EPIC/CBORD. Ensures all printers and fax machine are working, and assisting with the updating, correcting, and printing daily menus and diet changes for the Food Service Workers. Relays patient information from EPIC to managers as requested following HIPAA/PHI guidelines. Ensures food service staff is present for both AM and PM shifts. Notifies management immediately when Food Service Workers are late or absent so a timely replacement can be made to avoid interruption of service. Assist in processing all misograms/late tray orders or special patient requests to ensure patient satisfaction. Performs service recoveries where warranted.

Minimum Qualifications:
High School diploma or Equivalent. 1 year experience as Food Service Worker Lead. Must be able to perform computer skills to use departmental information systems: EPIC, CBORD. (Training will be provided in orientation period). Must be proficient Microsoft Word and Excel. Must be knowledgeable of diet modifications to meet for compliance to specific diet order. Certified in ServSafe program (within 6 months of hire). Must be able to read, write and speak English. Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions.

Preferred Qualifications:
Dietary Manager Certificate (within 6 months of hire)

Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $26.84 – $29.13 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
