Lead External Affairs

Overall Purpose:

Responsible for advancing the organization’s public policy and community engagement objectives through strategic communications, stakeholder engagement, and relationship management with key external partners.

Key Roles & Responsibilities:

Stakeholder & Community Engagement

Build and maintain strategic relationships with government officials, community leaders, nonprofit organizations, and third‑party coalitions.

Serve as the company’s representative on local boards, commissions, and civic groups.

Act as a visible, trusted corporate presence within assigned regional communities.

Event & Community Relations Management

Plan, coordinate, and execute community events that strengthen partnerships between the company, elected officials, and local stakeholders.

Promote company initiatives, address constituent concerns, and cultivate positive community perception.

Legislative & Government Affairs Support

Promote the company’s public policy and business priorities during public hearings, forums, and State/Municipal/Regional Government meetings.

Collaborate with State Legislative Affairs teams to support industry‑friendly policy outcomes.

Meet with legislators and staff to discuss pending issues and provide updates on company initiatives.

 Additional Responsibilities

Support Political Action Committee (PAC) activities and solicitations.

Facilitate internal collaboration across business units, including fiber/wireless deployment, government contracting, and emergency response coordination.

Manage corporate sponsorships, memberships, and AT&T Foundation grants within the region.

Assist corporate communications and public affairs teams with media messaging and stakeholder engagement during sensitive or high‑visibility matters.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Contribution

A seasoned professional recognized for expertise in stakeholder engagement, strategic communication, and public policy. Demonstrates independent judgment in resolving complex issues, leads major initiatives with strategic autonomy, influences executive‑level decisions, and mentors less experienced staff. Regularly collaborates with senior leadership and drives long‑term plans impacting the organization.

Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree (BS/BA) desired. 5+ years of related experience. Certification is required in some areas. Must reside within Orlando/ Central Florida area. No relocation offered.

Our Lead External Affairs earns between $116,700 - $175,100 USD Annual. Not to mention all the other amazing rewards that working at AT&T offers. Individual starting salary within this range may depend on geography, experience, expertise, and education/training.
