Position Summary
The Lead Director of Pharmacy Clinical Product Development provides strategic leadership and oversees the application engineering function by managing a team of engineers, defining technical strategies and roadmaps, ensuring successful project delivery, and fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration. Owns and advances the pharmacy prior authorization product with the goal of transforming the healthcare industry by reducing friction for patients and providers while managing utilization. Coordinates with stakeholders, allocates resources, drives technical excellence, and creates alignment between business goals and technical solutions to ensure continuous improvement of application engineering capabilities within the organization.
What you will do
Oversees and manages application development projects and programs, ensuring successful delivery within scope, budget, and timeline to meet business goals. Focus on business outcomes and foster a consultative, problem-solving mindset in the definition of products and solutions.
Collaborates with executive leadership to define the strategy and roadmap aligned with the organization's goals.
Drives innovation initiatives, promoting a culture of creativity, experimentation, and learning. This includes leveraging Artificial Intelligence in the automation and augmentation of clinical processes; leveraging FHIR/HL7 services to drive interoperability and electronic health record integration; and increase product development velocity using AI.
Provides leadership and expertise in defining the technical architecture and design principles for the clinical product solutions.
Evaluates the relevance and potential impact of new technologies on the organization's prior authorization product capabilities.
Establishes and maintains quality assurance processes, standards, and best practices within application development.
Advances, develops and ensures adherence to coding practices, software development methodologies, and testing strategies to deliver high-quality solutions.
Contributes to long-term planning, technology adoption strategies, and innovation initiatives to drive platform modernization and transformation.
Drives organization growth and capability maturity. Leads a team of engineers and technical professionals, and provides guidance, mentorship, and support to ensure their success and professional growth.
Required Qualifications
10+ years work experience
7+ years of people management experience, leading teams in application development.
5+ years of experience leading large programs like system migration, platform consolidation, new product development and client implementations.
5+ years of experience in product development, i.e., product backlog management, sprint planning, agile methodologies.
Technology product vendor management experience, i.e., relationship management, vendor selection.
End-to-end application ownership experience, i.e., development, production support, client/customer relationship management, infrastructure and capacity planning.
Preferred Qualifications
Agile Product Management Certification
Domain experience in Pharmacy Benefit Management, Health Insurance, Clinical Utilization Management Products or Prior Authorization.
Experience in leading application development for Angular and .Net technologies
Education
Bachelor's degree preferred/specialized training/relevant professional qualification.
Pay Range
The typical pay range for this role is:
$144,200.00 - $288,400.00
This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
