Role Summary
The Lead Director, Content & Amplification is a strategic communications leader responsible for shaping and executing content strategies across Aetna that elevate our brand, leadership voice, and business priorities. This role will lead the development, publishing, and amplification of high-impact content across internal and external channels, including but not limited to member stories, our intranet and insights pages, LinkedIn page, Aetna.com, etc.
This position requires a seasoned communicator with deep expertise in storytelling, channel strategy, executive communications, and cross-functional collaboration. The ideal candidate is a proactive leader who thrives in fast-paced environments, brings a solutions-oriented mindset, and can seamlessly toggle between strategy and execution. Critical to success will be the ability to maintain strategic discipline while also knowing when to roll-up your sleeves to create documents and execute alongside team members. This role is made for a storyteller who can synthesize a high volume of complex material into simple, relevant, messages while also being opportunistic about creating newsworthy content that can breakthrough the noise.
Key Responsibilities
Content Strategy & Editorial Leadership
Own and evolve Aetna’s content calendar in alignment with business priorities and executive visibility goals.Lead the creation, packaging, and amplification of content across owned, earned, and paid channels.Reimagine evergreen content for new audiences and formats, driving engagement and relevance.Executive Communications
Collaborate with the Executive Director, Executive Visibility, Content & Publishing, to support Steve Nelson and other senior leaders with high-impact communications.Channel Strategy & Amplification
Partner with channel owners and content creators to optimize content distribution across intranet, email, social media, web, and emerging platforms.Ensure consistent voice, tone, and brand alignment across all touchpoints.Measurement & Optimization
Establish KPIs and reporting frameworks to assess content performance and inform future strategy.Use data-driven insights to refine messaging, formats, and channel mix.Team Leadership & Collaboration
Mentor and guide junior team members, fostering a culture of creativity, accountability, and continuous learning.Build strong relationships across Communications, Marketing, HR, Legal, and other key stakeholders.**The ideal candidate would reside in the Northeast region and have the ability to travel for business needs**
Qualifications: The candidate will have a strong work ethic, be a self-starter, and be able to be highly productive in a dynamic, collaborative environment. This position offers broad exposure to all aspects of the company’s business, as well as significant interaction with all the business leaders. The candidate will be expected to have the following key attributes:
10+ years of experience in Communications, with experience in executive communications, content strategy, and channel management.Proven ability to lead enterprise-wide campaigns and navigate complex, matrixed environments.Strong project management skills with acute attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.Executive presence and ability to influence senior stakeholders.Deep understanding of internal and external communications platforms and tools.Experience supporting C-suite leaders with strategic messaging and visibility.Creative and analytical thinker with a passion for storytelling and audience engagement.Exceptional people manager with a personal commitment to continuous mentorship and professional development.Education: Bachelor’s Degree Required or equal years of relevant experience may be considered.
Pay Range
The typical pay range for this role is:
$100,000.00 - $231,540.00
This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
