Our culture emphasizes technical expertise, continuous improvement, and a shared commitment to supporting AT&T’s strategic goals through reliable data management. **What You’ll Do** As a Lead Database Administrator on AT&T’s Systems Database Administration team, you’ll be a key player in ensuring the reliability, scalability, and performance of our enterprise-wide database platforms. This role is ideal for experienced professionals who thrive in high-pressure environments, excel at solving complex technical challenges, and are passionate about building resilient, secure, and high-performing systems that support millions of customers and critical business operations. + **Database Reliability Engineering:** Architect and implement proactive solutions to ensure high availability, fault tolerance, and optimal performance across Oracle, MySQL, and Microsoft SQL Server environments. + **Incident Response & Troubleshooting:** Lead rapid response efforts for major database incidents, perform root cause analysis, and drive resolution to minimize business impact. + **Performance Tuning & Optimization:** Analyze system metrics, identify bottlenecks, and implement tuning strategies to ensure fast, efficient data access and query performance. + **Database Architecture & Engineering:** Design and evolve database schemas, storage strategies, and deployment models to support new applications and business growth. + **Security & Compliance:** Enforce robust security controls, manage access, and ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations. + **Technical Leadership:** Mentor junior DBAs and engineers, promote best practices, and foster a culture of operational excellence and continuous learning. + **Cross-Functional Collaboration:** Partner with application, infrastructure, and security teams to deliver integrated, scalable, and secure database solutions. + **Documentation & Knowledge Sharing:** Maintain detailed documentation, runbooks, and post-incident reviews to promote transparency, learning, and operational maturity. **What You’ll Need** + Solid academic foundation with a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field. + 5+ years of hands-on experience managing and administering databases across multiple platforms. + Deep expertise in Oracle, MySQL, and Microsoft SQL Server; additional DBMS experience is a plus. + Industry-recognized certifications in one or more database technologies (e.g., Oracle DBA, SQL Server, MySQL). + Strong command of performance tuning, backup and recovery strategies, and database security best practices. + Proven experience in designing, implementing, and managing the full lifecycle of enterprise database systems. + Sharp analytical and troubleshooting skills with a keen attention to detail and system reliability. + **Eligibility to obtain for a government security clearance** **is required** **What You’ll Bring** + A strategic mindset with the ability to lead complex database projects from concept to execution. + Proven experience mentoring junior team members and influencing technical decisions. + A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement. + Excellent communication and collaboration skills across technical and business teams. + Passion for data integrity, system reliability, and delivering high-impact solutions.
