Department Summary:
MITRE’s Offensive Operations & Effects department, part of the Cyber Operations & Effects Innovation Center, enables offensive cyber operations by applying software and hardware techniques and solutions. Our evaluations, rapid prototypes, and tools development provide unprecedented capabilities designed to be applied to real-world missions. Our experts provide cyber capabilities including support to offensive operations, reverse engineering, and forensics, while drawing on other expertise as required for specific missions or adversaries.
Roles & Responsibilities:
MITRE is seeking strong technical candidates with a computer science, software engineering or related background to join a research and development team focused on investigating new technologies and building prototypes.
The candidate for this position would have a familiarity in at least one of these disciplines: traditional forensics, mobile forensics, reverse engineering, loT devices, network packet capture and analysis, or Cloud forensics.
In addition, you will be responsible for:
Digital, mobile, or cloud forensics IoT device forensics Network packet capture and analysis Apply a full range of professional principles, theories, concepts, and techniquesSupport to outward-reaching sponsorsDevelop prototypes based on researchWork independently to learn new technologies, languages and platformsBasic Qualifications:
Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 6 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 3 years’ experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experienceDegree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Forensics related fieldMust be US citizen capable of obtaining and maintaining a security clearanceExperience with programming in languages such as Python, Java, C++, or CFamiliarity with operational digital forensics concepts and objectives Familiarity with latest trends and non-governmental advances in digital forensics Strong familiarity with Linux Strong familiarity with network forensics, pcap analysis Familiarity with database systems (e.g. MySQL, Postgres, SQLite) of the latest tools and techniques employed by forensic examinersFamiliarity with operational Cyber concepts and objectivesThis position requires a minimum of 50% hybrid on-sitePreferred Qualifications:
Knowledgeable of operational digital forensic concepts and objectives Knowledge of latest trends and non-governmental advances in Digital Forensics Operational experience with network forensics, pcap analysis Strong familiarity with database systems (e.g. MySQL, Postgres, SQLite) of the latest tools and techniques employed by forensic examinersHaving prior held Top Secret/SCI/Suitability in the pastStrong written and Oral communications skillsThis requisition requires the candidate to have a minimum of the following clearance(s):
