TYLin is seeking an accomplished Lead Civil Engineer to drive the design and delivery of utility, land development, and stormwater systems for high-profile transportation and transit facilities across Chicago and beyond. We invest in our teams, trust our professionals to lead, and create space for learning, flexibility, and long-term career growth. **Responsibilities & Qualifications** **What You’ll Do** As a technical leader, you will play a central role in shaping impactful transportation and transit projects while helping develop the next generation of civil engineers. + Lead the planning, design, and delivery of civil engineering components for transportation and transit projects, with emphasis on **utilities, site development, grading, and stormwater management systems** . + Serve as the technical authority for design decisions, ensuring quality, innovation, and compliance with applicable standards and regulations. + Produce and review detailed engineering drawings, models, and plans using **AutoCAD and MicroStation** . + Coordinate and collaborate across multi-disciplinary teams, partnering closely with designers, engineers, and external stakeholders. + Mentor and guide junior engineers and designers through technical coaching, constructive feedback, and career development support. + Contribute to business development efforts, including proposals, client presentations, and strategic project planning. + Ensure projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and to TYLin’s high standards of technical excellence. **What You Bring** + Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (Master’s degree preferred). + Licensed **Professional Engineer (PE)** in Illinois or ability to obtain Illinois licensure through reciprocity within 6 months of hire. + **15+ years** of progressive civil engineering experience, with a strong portfolio of utility, grading, and stormwater design on transportation or transit projects. + Advanced proficiency in **AutoCAD and MicroStation** . + Demonstrated experience leading technical teams and mentoring early- and mid-career professionals. + Strong communication skills and confidence working with clients, agencies, and multidisciplinary teams. **Why TYLin?** TYLin is built on a **people-first mindset** . As part of that commitment, we have provided the base compensation range of $150,000 - $200,000 annually for this position and local market.
