Lead Auditor - JLL
The Lead Auditor applies advanced auditing methodologies to engagement planning, execution, and reporting while continuously developing internal audit expertise and mentoring junior team members. The Lead Auditor leverages sophisticated data analytics strategies to optimize audit efficiency and effectiveness across engagements, serving as a subject matter expert in modern, evidence-based audit approaches. Main responsibilities include planning and executing complex audits, supervising team members, and providing quality assurance to ensure audit objectives are met with the highest level of professional standards.
Responsibilities
Lead risk-based operational, compliance, technology, and financial audits and/or projects designed to enhance and protect organizational value.
Analyze the relationship between business strategies and risks and evaluate the effectiveness of associated control activities, including internal control design, risk management and governance.
Develop and execute complex data analysis techniques and testing strategies to support the entire audit lifecycle, including advanced risk assessment, scoping, and identification of unusual trends or patterns for investigation.
Lead validation of the completeness and accuracy of data used for audit analysis, ensuring the reliability and integrity of all data-driven findings.
Apply risk-based approaches to achieve audit test objectives, incorporating advanced data analytics to enhance audit precision and coverage.
Lead the delivery of customized analytics in support of internal audits and effectively communicate complex data insights to stakeholders in non-technical terminology.
Demonstrate innovation by identifying opportunities to leverage data analytics for increased coverage and assurance throughout the internal audit process.
Plan and execute audit procedures in conformance with GIA quality standards, policies, and procedures with minimal supervision.
Supervise and review the work of junior audit team members, providing guidance and coaching on both traditional audit techniques and data analytics applications to enhance their professional development.
Lead comprehensive root cause analysis of identified issues, draft detailed audit findings, and communicate effectively to management with data-supported recommendations.
Manage multiple concurrent audit projects, coordinate team resources, and proactively address issues or roadblocks.
Maintain and advance internal audit competency through ongoing professional development, staying current with emerging audit practices and analytical tools.
Abilities / Skills
Leadership: Experience guiding teams and influencing stakeholders at all levels, including managing analytics specialists and mentoring team members on data-driven audit approaches.
Project Management: Demonstrated ability to lead complex audit engagements, managing teams, deadlines, and resource allocation effectively.
Data Analysis Oversight: Strong understanding of analytics methodologies with the ability to effectively supervise specialist work, validate analytical conclusions, and integrate insights into comprehensive audit findings. Capable of performing intermediate-level analysis independently when needed.
Professional Communications: Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to independently prepare engagement communications and presentations, and effectively translate complex analytical findings into actionable insights for diverse stakeholder audiences.
Critical Thinking and Problem Solving: Advanced ability to understand the business significance behind analytical patterns, define problems, and propose innovative solutions that align with audit methodology and organizational objectives.
Change Management: Ability to introduce and champion new analytical audit methodologies across the organization.
Attention to Detail: Meticulous execution of audit procedures and oversight of analytical work, ensuring accuracy and reliability in all work performed.
Intellectual Curiosity: Strong desire to learn new technologies, understand emerging analytical techniques, and independently pursue deeper understanding of business processes and their relationships.
Personal Courage: Ability to uphold GIA principles of independence and objectivity while managing conflicts in high-profile audit engagements and building collaborative relationships with business partners.
Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Management Information Systems, or related business field; Master's degree, CPA, or CA is a plus.
At least 6 years of internal audit experience with demonstrated progression in responsibilities.
Practical experience applying analytics in audit and business contexts is required; this includes working knowledge of analytical tools and methodologies sufficient to oversee specialist work and perform intermediate-level analysis independently.
Strong understanding of internal audit methodologies, risk assessment techniques, and control frameworks including the IIA's International Professional Practices Framework and COSO.
Experience supervising and reviewing the work of others in a professional environment, including oversight of technical specialists.
Relevant professional certification (CIA, CISA) required.
Self-discipline and demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and teams in a deadline-driven environment.
Familiarity with AI-powered tools and analytical techniques in an audit or business context is preferred.
Understanding of commercial real estate operations is a plus.
